I ticked the tourist box on my visa and went to Bank yesterday to open an account with Japanese Bank but I screwed up again as I should have ticked Business.

Make sure you have a pen with you as well as passport photo as 3 forms to fill out for different stages.

Taxi to our hotel was $12 usd and that is ok to me, I keep checking out the Took Tooks to see if K2D is now a driver but must still be in KL Airport.

Thanks for the update on WPT PT as it looks like my daughters decision to taxi it to Pattaya instead may be correct. I checked a Taxi yesterday and he wanted $125 one way to S Ville *** the one I used last time was $140 or $120 return. He lives down at S Ville and travels 4 times back and forth daily. Great as we came back at 11pm and roads are clear except for all the C Tainers camping or driving along the way.

PT still looking for the lady to help daughter and Massage if available to come to Australia.

On your flight just before you land they will hand you a visa application. The most important thing here is that you select the correct one. A tourist visa is good for one month, but can only be renewed for one more month after that and is not multi-entry. But if you get an ordinary visa, it can be renewed up to one year after the first month and is multi-entry meaning you can go to places like Thailand and come back without having to get a new one. This is obviously the visa you want as it offers the most flexibility. Don't worry about sections of the application like that which asks you the reason for your visit. I've simply put in the word "business" and nothing else and it's been completely fine. Just keep in mind, they don't care. They just want to collect your money and if they do they will give you whatever visa you ask.

If you don't know anyone here than perhaps it would be best to stay at the hotel where the Riverking is situated. You can meet some players right away and have a chance to get acclimated. We'll give you the poker rate of $18/night and I can easily set you up with my realtor or recommend some other hotels if you wish to stay elsewhere. Keep us updated of your travel plans or shoot me a PM.

You can buy adapters from the market/electronic store for a couple of dollars.

http://whatplug.info/from/usa/to/cambodia - if you use 'Plug A' in the USA I think you will be fine as that's the outlet in Cambodia.

My American electronics work just fine plugging it straight in without an adapter. Don't know about European products.

Writing this from Queenco as I'm sweating a few Riverking players in the deep stack PLO event. Twenty one runners for this event and only ten for day 1A of the main. Things not looking good.

The Tuktuks here in Sihanoukville are more expensive than the ones in Phnom Penh. That having been said, one should never take the first price offered and good negotiation skills are a must. So when I tried to take one from around the Lion Circle to Queenco, I did not accept the first price. He would have accepted my price but then two tourists came along who took his price although I specifically told them they were paying too much and that they were ruining it for the rest of us. I don't know if it's laziness or something else, but there is no moral good in overpaying. I'm reminded of NGOs that give money to working girls and those that give to the children that sell bracelets on the beach. The fact is you can give an amount of money to these people that more than matches what they make at their "jobs" and they would still continue doing what they do. For those coming over here, since I and many others have exhaustively gone over what things should cost, please do not overpay as all it does is jack up the price for the rest of us. All apologies for the rant, now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

It hasn't been all work here in Sihanoukville. Being here with a bunch of guys, there are no shortage of excuses to go out and have some fun. The most popular spot in town is of course the Square. But I would say about half the girls in the Square don't go home with customers. Still, it's a decent enough place to go out with friends as they're open late and if nothing else you can grope a few girls, drink and play some pool. The other spot in town is Victory Hill, where once upon a time it was the happening spot. But as development has grown more towards the other parts of town, the quality of girls has gone down and often the entire area can be quite dead. A few of us went there tonight and it was completely barren. Then again if you want to pull a girl, you're virtually guaranteed that someone will go home with you on Victory Hill. I was there last night and took a regular that I really like. I asked her if she knew why I liked her. When she said no, I told her that it was because I have a few peculiar requests and that she does whatever I ask. To this she replied, "Of course. That is what I must do. You tell me what you like and I do it." I told her that was the best answer ever. I paid $30 for short time.

But still the scene doesn't resemble anything like Phnom Penh and I honestly can't wait to go home. The WPT went off a bit better tonight, but still has been a mess from the beginning. One of the players with us who finished second in an event last night had to jump through a lot of hoops to finally get paid tonight. It prompted another player to pull me aside and ask if I thought if there was any chance that they might not honor cash finishes in any of the events. I told him if the organizer of the event was the only one in charge that it might be possible. But with the WPT involved I said the chances of such were unlikely.

So I'm here for two more days and I'm back off to Phnom Penh and the Riverking. I had dinner with a friend today and convinced him to go back with me. He's a good friend and I'm glad he's decided to join our family of sorts. A lot of you have also texted me as of late and asked me to book rooms for you. I can't wait to meet all of you and have a chance of facing you at the tables and also have some fun.

Ahhh makes sense now.. I heard you come in asking for 'Razz'... Razz is an Australian/khmer reg who plays there often... I believe he is in Australia atm and will be back soon... If you meant me, Yazz, then I was the Sussex guy on your left at the $1-2 or maybe I'm mistaken and you was looking for Razz

Either way it was nice to meet you

This one falls under the "I won't tell you until you've bought me five drinks that I don't go home" category.

Have been looking at houses and found some nice western 1 bedroom places for like 400-600 that i'd like.

however, found this really big nice house for $1500 that has 4 bedrooms.

here are a few pictures. do you think we could find 3 or 4 guys to get together that'd be interested. they're probably looking for a 12 month lease but maybe we can make it like a poker house. There is a nice master it seems so could probably do a higher rent for that room if someone is still on a budget for smaller rooms.

LOCATION: No. 346, Street 22BT (Boueng Tumpun - relatively near to the International School of Phnom Penh away from the center of Phnom Pen)
DESCRIPTION: The house has a large, western style kitchen with an island table, built in drying racks, drawers and organizers, and all the cabinets you could ever need. It also has a built in water filter, and since the house has a solar water heater you can actually wash your dishes in hot water. The kitchen is an open plan and is separated from the downstairs living area by a bar area. The dining and down stairs living area open out to the front garden through beautiful French doors, and the floors are a beautiful hardwood.
There are windows absolutely everywhere, and a sleek metal and wood staircase. There is a utility room and a large room that can be used as a bedroom or an office, and one bathroom is down. Additionally, there are six security cameras that feed to a monitor at the front door.
Upstairs are the other three bedrooms (including one master bedroom suite) and another living area. All of the bedrooms are a good size and the three upstairs bedrooms have built in wardrobes with drawers and frosted glass. The master suite comprises of a bedroom, a dressing area and a private bathroom with beautiful tile and a full-sized tub.
The location is very safe and quiet and in the mornings you can hear the birds, but you can be in BKK1 in 15 to 25 minutes depending on the time of day. The property is raised to avoid flooding despite when other sections of the city are inundated.

That's a pretty baller spot. If you miss out on that one don't worry as there are others. Hopefully you can find some players here who are interested. Or you're certainly welcome to come in to Riverking and ask around to those who are looking for a place. Just a suggestion though that you might want to find a place closer as it may not look like a long distance on a map, once you get here you'll find that the traffic makes things seem much further. And the cost of transport will really start to add up. Or you may want to think about investing in a moto.

definitely. i dont mean that place in particular, just the idea in general. i think it would be a little easier for me if i had 1-3 other poker players who understood the situation i was in and helped make things easier. but, i think you're right about the idea of being closer to where we need to be. I'd likely start off at RK or a local hotel for first 1-2 weeks until i sort out housing anyways and figure out lay of the land. i haven't figured out exactly when i'm going yet, may try to grind here for a month or two first as i'm not sure i'm ready to leave family/america just yet.
