Does anyone know if AJ Brock, manager (or former manager, I don't know) of the Queenco poker room is still in SNV, or PP ?

Okej. How often does the 1-2-4 runs on average per hours a day? is there a regg fest?

I was at River Kings in 2014 and the games were fantastic. Are they not like this anymore? Was only there a few times but seemed like 60% Khmer.

Also played at Queensco. Like the room but seemed far from town and the guy who ran it was really loud and always sat and played, he was kinda meh.

Are the golden days of poker in Cambo over?

Sunset is ~ 6 pm so I'm assuming the sightseeing isn't feasible on Friday. How should I do this?

I figured

friday - check into hotel then just go walking around Siem Reap to look for dinner, go to Pub street?

Any specific things I should check out like night markets or whatever?

Saturday - I'm guessing i'll try and do like 10 hours of sightseeing / temples at Angkor. Since I only have 1 full day I shouldn't **** around and just pay up for a good tour. Any suggestions?

Sunday - anything really I could do super early at Angkor Wat before checkout or is it kind of a writeoff?
The Cultural Village is worth checking out if you have a spare couple of hours in the day and need something to do.

Best advice I ever got was get up before dawn and do the temples as soon as it gets light. It's magical walking around there with almost no other people. By 11:00 or 12:00 it's so hot and so crowded that you'll want to kill someone.

I think there are also tours that get you in before sunrise. I would agree with this for Sunday. Morning temples until 9, breakfast, flight to bkk, soapy, nap and your ready for Monday.

I did angkor wat at sunrise and it was pretty awesome although crowded with chinese and there was a tarp over the main entrance. Most people recommend gathering around the pond.

My friends and I tried to stay until sunset to get that view as well but it ended up being too long and we were exhausted.

^yup. the crowds ruin the atmosphere completely.
get up at 4.30 and start with "Ta Prohm" while everyone else is trying to get the perfect picture of Angkor Wat.

Came across this article the other day about new gambling licenses in Cambodia and like most other things in this country, didn't seem to make any sense:

http://calvinayre.com/2015/10/01/cas...line-gambling/

Why are the new casinos to be in Sihanoukville, which already has multiple casinos that are struggling? The logic that they were to be the source of online operations so that locals would have a venue to play in made no sense either as the rule not allowing locals to gamble in casinos is hardly enforced.

I'm just scratching my head as to why a city that has too many casinos is being granted 10 new licenses, for online operations that locals may or may not need, all the while the capital city of Phnom Penh still has only 1 casino and zero competition?

I would guess the owners of naga have friends in high places. They don't want any competition.

This.

It's also why RiverKing keeps closing and reopening in different locations.

it makes no sense having all those casinos in sihanoukville, but all those bars and restaurants don't make much sense either. i'm guessing the casinos have been built mostly in anticipation of the airport opening up to regular international flights.

They want to transform Snooky in a main touristic area.

Apparently there is some sort of law or something in place so no other casino can open within 100km of Naga that lasts for another 10 years.

River Kings is run by the prime ministers nephew and the CEO of Naga makes a rare appearance to play. I heard he dumped 5k+ a night for like a week learning how to play PLO

A couple of the new casinos in SHV being build ive seen are being financed by Chinese im guessing its all money laundering...

Thanks for the input boys. Going to take the advice and get up super early to beat the crowds. Won't be a problem cause I'm still jet lagged and waking up in middle of night anyway.

Should I just hire a guide from the hotel for the day and what is a reasonable price for one? I read a guys travel blog and he was promoting a service that was 65 pounds seemed way high but if that's going rate whatever - basically a driver, entry fees and some water would be all I'd want.

Or if a guide is spew I'll just do it myself

Any local dishes I must eat? ... I'll eat anything in Thailand except street food that's iffy safety wise. Spicy is fine.

Anyone have any knowledge/theory why there is no casino in siem reap? Seems like that should be the ideal place to put one.

I've been to Cambodia few times and in 2012-2013 lived 6 months in PP. Went there this February for 2.5 weeks and it just felt wrong. I don't know if I was ****ed up all the time previously (I was pretty ****ed this time too), but everything just felt too annoying. I was annoyed practically of everything, and I can't figure out what could've changed in the last 3 years. It was probably me that changed, or something.

Especially girls talking khmer seemed to push my buttons real good. Screaming or something. I hook up only with one girl ('normal' = no money involved) and even that was too ****ing annoying afterwards.

I used to love that place, so, I don't know man.

Pretty common phase for people who have lived abroad for a long time. Everything is absolutely great and amazing then you'll get sick of everything and want to kill people for doing next to nothing.

You'll be back to missing it soon imo.

There does seem to be an anti-gambling focus in Siem Reap lately. I noticed this article the other day:

http://www.phnompenhpost.com/nationa...lice-siem-reap

And a day or so after that they shut down another numbers/lottery type place. I found it rather funny that this latter operation was being run out of the office of the local ISP.
