Are there good muay thai schools everywhere in Thailad? Or in most parts of the country? Anyone with some experience?

Is muay thai most popular or do people do bjj/krav maga and stuff too?

BJJ stands for "BRAZILIAN" JIU JITSU and Muay "THAI" means it is a martial are specific to "THAILAND." Is this a serious question? If you wanted to train American Football what country do you think would have the best coaching? It's the same for Muay Thai. As for having good schools everywhere, it depends how high level you are. Some of the best Muay Thai coaches in the world travel around teaching it but Thailand has better Muay THAI coaches than any other country and I am sure there are some excellent coaches living in some remote places of Thailand. If you are planning to go to CM, BKK, or Phuket then it won't be very hard to find a good Muay Thai training center.

Yeah i remember that VV can you remember what date that would of been?

I would be interested to see how Ebffs would take to bkk if he moved there. I have a theory about people who move to Thailand. I find that most* people who visit Thailand and fall in love with the place tend to end up living wherever they stayed first, most* people i know who came to patts first dont really like bkk and vice versa. Think the same is true for people who visited phucket first to.

*I know you lived in bkk for over 2 years before going to smaui and falling in love with it and moving there with your family. Most means most not all!

Meh, I think he may have been asking how easy it would be to find a good school regardless of where he is living. The answer is yes, you will be able to find gyms absolutely everywhere, not just in the main centres. Quality varies, of course, but more from gym to gym than from region to region, as far as I can tell at least. There are plenty of gyms in BKK, a few in Pattaya, Phuket has a very high concentration, and there are several in Chiang Mai. Outside of the main centres where most poker players stay they are still easily found but you will have less options.

His question about BJJ etc isnt actually tooooo unreasonable, there seems to be a trend of gyms starting to cater for MMA training now for tourists, especially in Phuket. An example would be Lion in Phuket bringing in the cage and MMA coaches over the last 6 months or whatever it has been. Tiger (Phuket) has recently built a new gym in Chiang Mai in a simular style to its Phuket gym (ie catering for tourists) which as far as I am aware is the first MMA gym in these parts, so its possible that it will continue to grow as people realise there is money to be made. But in saying that, I guestimate there must be 100 MT gyms for every MMA gym in Thai.

cliffs; theres bazillions of MT gyms here, dont worry about trying to find one

We'll see. I want to live in a few cities in Thailand before I settle down with an education visa. I'm planning to move to Phuket April 28th with the gf, then BKK after that. CM and KS check out for 2-4 week vacations. Once we've really seen everything then we can decide, who knows maybe Pattaya will be the place we pick in the end.

For now though, in all seriousness, I'm perfectly happy with Pattaya as a "single" guy who mostly just wants to sample Asian pussy, get back in shape, up my tan and expand my poker roll. Great gym, nice beach nearby (jomtein beach only 10min away), still haven't had to rent a scooter or take public transit anywhere, but I have everything I need in minutes. Pretty good location for lots of grinding (poker and pussy) combined with a gym/tan/laundry operation.

When I was glued to the bed with muscle aches/chills/splitting headache the other night I found this channel on cable.

http://pattayachannel.com/

They have a You Tube Channel where yo can watch most of their content.

http://www.youtube.com/user/pattayac...?feature=watch

I saw the episodes of "Food Fever" where they were reviewing the buffet at Sheraton Hotel and Burger Joint called Carls Jr. which is supposed to have amazing burgers. Got me excited because I haven't had a good burger in months (and I've tried since I've got here).

There was a place I went for a drink a couple of months ago on Soi 11 that looked fantastic. I had already eaten when I got there but the pizzas coming out looked delicious, proper wood fire type pizzas, had wine and cocktails etc, deffo a place to take a girl. Now the only problem I dunno the name of the place lol. Coming from suk road it's a little way down on the right hand side, it looks like a new trendy bar with a glass front from the outside. Inside there is a bar you can sit at on the right hand side and there are tables and chairs on the left.

Dunno if that is useful lol

LOL Pattayachannel....I get it now. Just one big affiliate marketing gimmick. You should have seen the whole episode they did on the Carls Jr. meal, they were raving about the food. I have to admit the burgers they were eating looked massive and a lot better than anything I've seen at BK. Maybe the kitchen went the extra mile for the cameras...

So where do I go in Patts for a good burger?

Carls Junior ldo

Really not sure i am not a big burger eater, having said that dicey'o rielys at the back of royal garden plaza do a good burger if you order it with all the trimmings.

Little pricey as its part of the marriot but worth a look i guess, note tho i have not been there for close to 2 years.

shat around 9 times today and not even left my room, thew up my morning eggs all over the toilet, think it was the food @ foodland.

still not eaten all day, worried about losing mah gains, might buy some milk if i can leave my room hopefully that can go down me.

As for thai boxing the best gyms will be in thailand, but there are also some rubbish ones, not in the quality of instructors as they usually top noch, but the value for money as lesson plans. say you do 3 lessons a week thats still 57k~ a year, which is alot. Also depends were your located, the gyms around sukhumvit are kinda meh imo, ive visited a few. theres some BJJ schools too around here, never went but didnt rate them highly though, as there were better trainers were i lived back home

How did you calculate this? Obv dont be a fish and pay for each lesson if you are staying long term. For someone wanting to grind and not train too much, once per day(2hours) will be about right. That should be around 4k/month in most places, 5k in some areas.

Works out to like 80baht/hour or 48k/year (but this is for 6 lessons a week instead of the 3 that you quoted for 57k). Hardly expensive if you think about it.

Hell, pay the year in advance you could prob talk them into an extra discount. Maybe if you compare it to gym fees its higher per month (I guess? never been to a gym in thailand, you would know better than me), but its not really the same.

Those same trainers back home are gonna cost $50+ per hour of privates. Here it is like 1/4 that. Sick value.
