While he officially retired from the sport at the age of 33, Cracknell went on to compete in a South Pole Race in 2009, which involved rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and trekking across the Arabian Desert.

In 2010, he finished 12th in the 156-mile Marathon des Sables - the best finish by a Briton in the endurance race.

More recently Cracknell completed the London Marathon in a time of two hours, 43 minutes and 12 seconds, in 2017.
A most interesting character.

Looks like he may squat despite being a runner, too.

Ditto Holliday. I thought into the spiderverse is great, and I hate almost everything and am not a comic book fan or superhero movie fan at all.

This, except the hate part. It's a bit visually noisy at times, my only minor pickle.

I'm seeing shadows of mlylt in myself - it's not a great feeling. Trying to lose like 10 pounds for summer and they had cake at my work today .... well, it'd be rude not to share in the party.

Spoiler:
I ate three pieces

If you're still in Austin, cake at 7am seems like an issue.

Living in DC these days Monte. I thought to myself "Is there a place worse than Indiana in which to live," so I ended up here in the swamp. On the plus side it will feel very nice when I move literally anywhere else

Ahoy--

With the wife finally ensconced in rehab, hero is free to roam the earth and do as he pleases. Thus far that pretty much just involves long naps and doing his taxes, but I have high hopes for getting to the hookers and blow portion soon. Sure for the time being I feel "afraid" to even go out to dinner on my own but think of it as a roller coaster slowly going upward. The break time is obviously helping my demeanor and outlook. I don't want to get into the specifics of what "personality changes" look like with this sort of condition, but "being a huge *****" rather efficiently captures the spirit of the thing. It's just nice to not having to deal with that all the time. While I was away from the hospital one morning, pretty sure she made one of the doctors cry for no reason (not that I'm happy about that, but it was nice to see it isn't "just me"...and also nice that it wasn't actually me). Perhaps I should have given him a bit more warning than; "She can be a little moody".

Made it to a theatre to see 'Captain Marvel' and really liked it. Never really understood why there aren't more female superheroes--it's the goddamned superpowers that do all the work.

Haven't made it back to the gym or yoga studio yet, but soon.

Enjoyed Captain Marvel as well.
Give Shazam a go.
It looks ridiculous in the previews but it is a solid movie with some good comic relief mixed in.

Damn. The Walmart pop ups are out of control right now.

Monte, can you do me a favor. Could you post a link to well named’s forum in my log. I have access to post there but can’t get to it through conventional means due to restrictions.

I assume J ***k meant that there are currently many Wal-Mart lounge "pop ups" in L.A., where I presume hipsters dress as those in the south, and order chicken-fried-chicken cocktails.

Interestingly enough there aren’t really any Walmarts in Los Angeles. I would guess you need a critical mass of non-wealthy white people to sustain a Walmart, which Los Angeles just doesn’t have.

I actually recently moved to the inland empire, where there are a lot of Walmart’s. I have probably gone to Walmart more in the last year of my life than the rest combined.

And yes I realize I am admitting I am a plebian and not fit for polite society by the simple admission I even go to Walmart. It is whAt it is.

Wife back home and I still managed to make it to the big comic book movie premier Thursday. With assigned seating it's actually pretty easy for a single to get in. Question from an old; Are all theatres assigned seating now? Is "I remember back when you just got a blank ticket and had to get there an hour early and sprint to a good seat." a new curmudgeon expression that youngs can't comprehend? Come to think of it, why wasn't it always assigned seating?

This way I was able to enjoy it without any jerk spoilering it for me (other than reading the actual comic version 30 years ago). As you've all now had plenty of time to see it...

'Avengers' spoiler alert:

Spoiler:
I look like Thor now. I can relate to Thor now, finally. What that was was just fat shaming! Everyone who laughed should be ashamed.
But seriously I gotta' get back in the gym. Think I'm up 35 pounds this year. Loco was right; it's all fat when all you eat is pie and burritos.

I agree though, we should see if more people start posting here once he's gone. Let's give the experiment a 5 year timeframe and afterwards if regular posters are low he can come back.
So now that we are ~1/5 the way through this experiment, do you have any preliminary findings to report?

In lighter news I was thinking to myself that there really hasn't been any good pop/hip hop bangers that have come out this year so far. I know it is early, but so far things have been very underwhelming.

The fact that Billy Eilish is the "hot new thing" in the pop world right now kinda speaks for itself.

Maybe Kid Colin and John Candy (or whatever username he is currently using) can weigh in.

As far as I can tell no one has left due to Thremp not being around. Several posters who were against Thremp getting banned have said that the forum is a nicer place because he's gone. I have heard no one who wanted him banned say that they wished he was still around. Overall just one salty, petty man taking weird stabs at me every once in awhile due to the situation.

What are your thoughts?
