They don't have padding on the floors? Or they don't have tampons?

Yeah, this. Also, get a home gym.

Those things are surprisingly expensive. When I was buying some for the home gym I saw them on sale for $30 a set. I really couldn't stomach paying that much for two pieces of plastic, so I got the lockjaw variety ($10 and work just fine).

The only thing I use clips for are deadlifts just to make sure the plates stay upright so the bar rolls nicely. I don't see the need at all for clips when doing anything else

Yeah, I think everyone might be a special snowflake when it comes to that stuff. For me, the plates don't budge on press or bench, but they shift alarmingly during sets on squats/deads (not to the point that I think they'd fall off, but far enough that I'd never want to chance it).

bundy,

I recommend you only use clips when doing a heavy bench press without a spotter

You're just trying to give him an excuse for not reracking his weights.

A Friday evening would be an odd place for the gym noob frankly. They're bound to be the early regular weekday crowd and rando weekend.

Resolutioner, incline bench 4 10's on each side.

I wonder if I'm going to see the four high school kids that attempted to do strip sets with weight plates ascending from 2.5->45 from inside collar again this year. I think they played football or something at one of the local high schools; none of them got any reps with the top weight (290 by my quick math?), but most got a few reps at 200 on down, and I have to admit it looked kind of cool.

I've been guilty of using excessive tens.

I've seen people using multiple 35s when there were plenty of 45s around.

Always assumed they wanted people to think they lift more than they do.

Saw a guy doing lat pulldowns with a moderate amount of weight, then move the pin to a much heavier weight once he was done.
