Spent a week in a city by a bay where my gobogym had a branch. basically a lot of Asians with a few muscular women.

Strong Asian woman in a black skirt looking thingy deadlifting in the middle of gym

Her spine formed a crescent moon

Banged the bar on the floor every rep and shook all over

3 Asian Bros fed her endless positive reinforcement

Guy beside me using the adjustable bench to do shoulder press. Gets it 2 90 degrees and grabs his weights. From the side I can see it's not in any pin. My first thought was let's see what happens. But then I thought that's pretty dick move. And told him. He was pretty thankful.

Guy doing shoulder raises with 15s on the right end of the rack. Rather than putting them where he found'em, he takes two steps left and leaves them in the 35 slot

EVERYONE uses the ****ing squat rack to do deadlifts, i dont get it. Its already bad enough dealin with the guys doin bicep curls (too many), but for some reason 90% of my gym thinks you HAVE to use the bar from the squat rack to do deadlifts. Theres plenty of space all over my gym, and plenty of barbells on the benches, so theres no excuse for this other than ignorance.

My gym only has 1 squat rack so this can get really annoying. Is this a problem at anyone elses gym, or is my place just special.

Just ask politely can they do it outside the rack. I have never seen anyone deadlifting in the rack at my gym btw (barring rack pulls obv), nor anyone curling. In fairness there is a huge sign with gym rules on it and no curls in the racks is written in there not once but twice lol. Pretty lucky I suppose.

If you're gonna use the bar, you might as well stand in front of the rack.

I don't think people would rather have you use the bench press bar.

Commerical gyms usually don't have olympic bars lying around everywhere. I used to deadlift in front of the squat rack all the time.

Mostly this, in a cramped gym though might not be much space behind and being in rack doesn't make much difference.

So if you guys just grab a random bar for DLs, how do you load it? Do they provide barbell jacks at the gyms that don't actually have a DL area?

My gym has midgets that load the bar for you.

Yeah, I never understood a person having the initiative to do DLs but not having it in them to just lift one end of the damn bar up to slide plates on.

After you put the first set of 45 plates on, you can roll the side you're loading up onto another plate to give it some height so you can slide on the rest.

If you're putting a 2nd 45 lb plate on, you should def be able to lift the one end up to put the other plate on then repeat on the other side.

If you're putting a 3rd (or more) 45 lb plate on, you:
- figured out the solution to this problem long ago
- are going to injure yourself in the near future from either loading the bar or the subsequent DL you are going to do with too much weight

Everybody talking **** must only deadlift 1 plate cause after 225 it sucks adding plates with out a deadlift jack

I don't see why it has to suck, I think the 1st plates suck more than the following ones. As soon as there is 225 on the bar you can kinda just put half of the inner ring against the end of the bar and then lean back holding the plate in an air squat, using your own weight to shift it in place. This isn't as hard as it sounds.

But yeah a deadlift jack sounds like a luxury.

Pretty much this. Although I'm sure it varies a lot depending on the bar, plates, diameter of the hole and whether there's any give, the flooring itself, etc.

It doesn't get hard until like 4 or 5 plates a side.

Don't click on this link. It is 3 minutes of bloviating that could be done in 3 seconds. Put a 5lb plate on the floor and roll one end on to it.
