I've found it's helpful to look confident and use industry-sounding words.

It is currently 18 degrees outside with a few inches of snow on the ground. Next to me, there was just a guy working out in sandals

The fat PT probably gets work because he is socially energetic, good at speaking, enthusiastic, smiles a lot, engaging, etc.

If you can find someone in shape who also is good at all of this then they'll do great.

Yes he is. And so are the people who follow his nutritional advice. GOMAD is better than steroids lol.

But it still has the most comprehensive technique instruction of anything out there even if some of the programming stuff is stupid.

Tonight, I went back to the Squat corner, and this dude is squatting 135, and it has to be the worst ROM I've ever seen. I swear I've seen calf raises with more ROM. 2" max.

Then later, dude comes back in jeans, unracks the 135 and steps out of the squat rack and does below parallel squats. Then ups it to 155, does another set to like 3-4" above parallel, and that was it.

Definitely one of the weirder combos I've seen at this gym.

An attempt to break in a fresh pair of jeans maybe?

I mean he's probably aware of the fact that squatting deep is going to destroy his knees but maybe he also heard that it's an awesome way to break in new jeans and decided to YOLO it up.
And perhaps 155 turned out to be too tall of an order after all.

The one noticeable ggo that appears to be NYR related is lot's of girls doing lat pull downs behind the neck. I have no idea why that would suddenly be popular for them in Jan 2015...

Good point, I had not considered this.

Now that I live in the burbs I go to a gym with a lot of HS aged kids.

These ~6 HS kids are stretching in a circle in the stretch. As the circle breaks up, one girl suggests to another that they "do butt"

"I don't wanna do butt because then guys like you for your butt and not who you are as a person"

"You have to do butt because your butt catches their attention, then you can talk to them"

It was actually pretty wise for an <18 year old.

No pics of jailbait HS girls I'm probably in enough risk of getting caught staring as it is.

Had an employee who would openly discuss it. Can't remember if she was 17 or 18, but had a kid and her BF worked with us too.

Then, I was walking and looking ahead while trying to catch a door behind me and she walked her vag into my hand.

I thought I was in treble.

Be careful Bobbo

They are essentially wearing something on their head that says I prefer form over function.. They are terrible. At least the first ones were, haven't listened to the 2nd lot yet

I can't see any overear headphones being pleasant to wear when working out anyway tbf

Personally I like how they look and sound (newer models), but can't see how anyone doesn't find them unbearably inconvenient at the gym, especially with the thick stiff cords.

Yeah, people who choose form over function are idiots. I wear sweatpants everywhere. Gives me a little trouble in job interviews but so comfortable and that's what matters.

They are just way overpriced. They are the worst headphones by far at that price range.
