Last year it was a forest of guys doing dumbbell curls in the mirror while almost everywhere else was left alone. I remember naively thinking "must have been a lot of resolutions to work on biceps". Later realized that they simply made resolutions to work out, and the only way they ever worked out was dumbbell curls in the mirror.

The gym is always crazy busy early to mid January, even these days.

Not just the New Year's resolution crowd, but lots of actually in shape people wanting to get back to it after goofing off and eating a ton over the holidays.

Some guy was doing rows (with 65 lbs) on the only squat rack. He saw me waiting and said "You can have this, I can do something else".

When you can look in 1 direction and get 2 ggo's in the same line of vision it's already there.

I swear there are people that only workout when they are on holiday vacation. Holidayers?

You realize that's YOU in the mirror, right?

2nd semester PT with chicken legs tells me I shouldn't do LBBS as it puts to much stress in lower back. I tell him thanks, he proceeds to do 1/2 rom behind the neck military press!

Well....what are you calling "half ROM"?

The general consensus everywhere I've read is that IF you are going to do them AND they do not present any discomfort that you shouldn't go down more then eye level with BTN because any further and you pretty much have to put your neck in a craned forward bad position, which translates to your shoulders.

Mid head level ROM. I was just under the impression that overhead press is superior to behind the neck press. I guess my point should have been as I have never seen him do any type of lower body exercise. Always wears tank body builder shirts and looking at himself in the mirror constantly . Just thought it was ironic .

Still no free weight equipment because they don't have pads. But the squat rack has no pads and they haven't assembled it. I asked the director to at least put that one back together. We'll see.

Definitely some new faces in the gym today, but still relatively deserted, as lunchtime usually is. I'm pressing in the squat rack (as usual, no one waiting to squat) and I clip on on a 35 on each side with one of the two sets of new plastic collars that are the only ones that work well on the new bars:

Most of the old metal clamps have been squeezed enough after years of use that they don't really fit the new bars snugly, and I didn't want to scratch up the new bars, so I generally use the new collars. Whatever.

So after I get my bar set up, I go to fill up at the water fountain, and return at most a minute later, do my warmup set, and notice that, after I finished my set, one of the plates has moved slightly away from the collar. I inwardly roll my eyes at the fact that the new clips are apparently this ****ty, go over to switch on some 45s, and note that the clip is no longer there. I check the rack to see if I forgot to put it on, but nope, it's gone, as is the clip from the other side. I turn around and note the two new 23 year old inbred Purdue douches bench pressing 135 for reps of three using the clips they had to have just watched me put on (the bench they were on faces the squat rack) and silently cursed the new year. Luckily they burned themselves out after two terrible sets so I had the clips back by the time I was doing my work sets, but jesus. Who does that?

I think I'd probably say something there. I generally just silently roll my eyes with most ggos but that's pretty bad.

They were bench pressing a gentleman's 135 though. He was probably afraid they'd kill him.

I guess Yugo's right; maybe I am just a huge pussy beta and I should have just gone full ISF on their asses. Although, I tend to feel like getting into a confrontation over something minor, if mindbending, with two guys that probably use a combination Skoal/Slim Jim PWO is probably not ultimately going to be all that satisfying regardless of which direction it goes.

It probably wouldn't be a confrontation. You ask them if they took those clamps from the rack you're using. They say yes. You say please find some that aren't currently in use. I need those back. End of story.

ETA: Unless we again consider that they were benching a gentleman's 135. Probably on roids and easily thrown into gorilla rage. So you're probably right.
