I think I'll stick to monoB this time.

Swamp + Taste of Blood -> Distress, Devouring Swarm

Pretty sure I'd play the mind control and azure mage with 6 islands. Mind control isn't a card that has to be played on turn 5 and can actually benefit from being played much later in the game.

imo azure mage is overrated and i dont like nearly as much as other ppl do. im more than happy to have a few coral merfolks in my deck FWIW. i just dont see that much of a difference and thats because the format is super fast and i rarely get to the lategame where azure mage becomes really powerfull.

But then during deck construction i didnt know how to splash it, like should i go 10-7? How would you build this deck, and if you built it mono black how would you build it? Thanks

Taste of blood is trash.

Put in devouring swarm over it.

Mind control is the stone nuts. Azure mage is pretty good and should be in the deck if you have islands. However.. I think you're fine w/o these cards. Wish we had double/triple consume spirit/drifting shade though.

ya if we had 2 consume spirits itd make this an easy decision imo.

I think Azure is 2nd best Magus and 2nd best blue uncommon. It will win most late games and can trade early if necessary. I'd imagine it's best in UW and UB t and worst in UR.

Friend wanted to try out modo. Downloaded the client and opened my dormant account. I see I have lot of packs of ravnica and there is some sort of limited time drafting of it going on. Is this correct? I assume the packs are worth more now during this event, should I unload them now?

And i have even more 10th edition... which is lame obviously. Whats the most EV route to go with these boosters?

i dont think they are worth more now, i think they are worth less. you can only enter those events with tickets. so there are more packs now and still nothing to do with them.

So looks like there isn't enough interest here to do 8 player drafts. Could someone recommend a magic forum to pick up some more players?

I'm in.

dmk,

I'd definitely play Red there. Even though it doesn't have any bombs, red seems by far the strongest color to me. That creature package is insane. I'd probably say RW>RU=RB.

Your red is insane! 3x minotaurs and 3x blood ogre, berseker and chandra's outrage! Your white fliers and lawkeeper work well with the red and you can fill out your deck with 2/1 dorks like the vanguard, piker, hellhound and maybe one tunneler. Go R/W and 4-0 the event.
I'd love to open such a good pool with a money mythic no less.

brindle boarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'd probably play the second Diabolic Tutor over the 3rd Boar, but otherwise it looks good.

I'd cut at least one boar, I think basilisk is the strongest card in your sb but curve considerations may win out over adding more fat.

edit - would def play warpath over one

for those that play live, i was thinking of hitting up the local store for a FNM. it'd be my first time playing live

how do all the "phases" work? like, online i can just set a stop point so i can cast instants/abilities when i want to. do you have to announce the start of each phase or something?

u should announce end of turn, entering combat and upkeep. if your opponent rushes through phases you can just tell him wait.

You usually shortcut through all the obvious stuff, giving the opponent time to interact. You'll pick it up pretty easily.

It might be worth watching some videos, doesn't really matter whether it's ggslive or PT coverage as long as it shows you what to do.
