Types of berating:- "You r a donk, u gonna be broke by the end of the night you fish!"
I really think this isn't a huge deal. It might induce spazz. Most donks think they are good at poker, and some internet punk isn't going to convince them otherwise.
- "You luckbox, you know you hit a 4 outer, right?"
Kinda the same thing, maybe a little worse. I really don't think it is going to convince someone to cash out though.
- "U suck, [racist comments if they aren't from US]"
Obviously this is ethically wrong, not really sure if players really get offended by this type of stuff.
- "Man you are a 52/0, you are going to be broke soon" What does 52/0 mean? "[I use pokertracker and that is how I have an edge]"
Not cool. Obviously this has a decent chance of scaring away fish.
- "Go to pokertableratings.com, you are down $2k so far, loser"
Not cool either. Don't want fish to know they are losing that much money.
TL;DR
Berating fish is terrible no matter what fashion it is presented in.
The reason it is terrible is no matter how degan a gambler the fish is by berating him you are ruining his enjoyment. The reason fish play is not that they think they have an edge but it is because they want to gamble and use poker as entertainment. The same reason people play roulette. If the dealer at a roulette table started berating you for being an idiot for playing roulette would you keep playing? Of course not because then your fun time would have been ruined.
The same thing happens when a player berates a fish trying to have a good time on the weekends. If we ruin their fun time they will just get up and find a funner table to play at or worse see it as no longer being fun and take their roll off the site and find a new pastime. Why would we want to discourage the fish from playing at all. This is just bad logic.
The second thing that can happen is that they think they have an edge and are playing even though they are terrible and don't realize it. If we degrade them then they might realize they aren't playing as well and tighten up. Why would we want to encourage fish to tighten up. This is bad for us and bad for the game. If we encourage fish to play better then they will learn to play better and the game as we know it will get even tougher than it already is. The other option is they will realize they are playing against opponents that are better than them and get up and move to a different table and avoid us. Why would we want to make fish realize we are better and choose to not play us. I don't know about you but I hate playing the nitty tough regs in here. lol I still love you all though.
Key to the story is don't berate fish cause its bad for the game and if you see anyone berating fish you can automatically tag them as a non-reg cause no true reg would be this dumb.
