1. Two (or more) accounts at the same IP address is common - think families - husband, wife, twenty something kids.

2.FTP s/w will prevent you from sitting at the same table as someone else playing from the same IP address (or entering the same tournament).

3. Yes, no problem.

Types of berating:
  • "You r a donk, u gonna be broke by the end of the night you fish!"
I really think this isn't a huge deal. It might induce spazz. Most donks think they are good at poker, and some internet punk isn't going to convince them otherwise.
  • "You luckbox, you know you hit a 4 outer, right?"
Kinda the same thing, maybe a little worse. I really don't think it is going to convince someone to cash out though.
  • "U suck, [racist comments if they aren't from US]"
Obviously this is ethically wrong, not really sure if players really get offended by this type of stuff.
  • "Man you are a 52/0, you are going to be broke soon" What does 52/0 mean? "[I use pokertracker and that is how I have an edge]"
Not cool. Obviously this has a decent chance of scaring away fish.
  • "Go to pokertableratings.com, you are down $2k so far, loser"
Not cool either. Don't want fish to know they are losing that much money.
TL;DR

Berating fish is terrible no matter what fashion it is presented in.
The reason it is terrible is no matter how degan a gambler the fish is by berating him you are ruining his enjoyment. The reason fish play is not that they think they have an edge but it is because they want to gamble and use poker as entertainment. The same reason people play roulette. If the dealer at a roulette table started berating you for being an idiot for playing roulette would you keep playing? Of course not because then your fun time would have been ruined.

The same thing happens when a player berates a fish trying to have a good time on the weekends. If we ruin their fun time they will just get up and find a funner table to play at or worse see it as no longer being fun and take their roll off the site and find a new pastime. Why would we want to discourage the fish from playing at all. This is just bad logic.

The second thing that can happen is that they think they have an edge and are playing even though they are terrible and don't realize it. If we degrade them then they might realize they aren't playing as well and tighten up. Why would we want to encourage fish to tighten up. This is bad for us and bad for the game. If we encourage fish to play better then they will learn to play better and the game as we know it will get even tougher than it already is. The other option is they will realize they are playing against opponents that are better than them and get up and move to a different table and avoid us. Why would we want to make fish realize we are better and choose to not play us. I don't know about you but I hate playing the nitty tough regs in here. lol I still love you all though.

Key to the story is don't berate fish cause its bad for the game and if you see anyone berating fish you can automatically tag them as a non-reg cause no true reg would be this dumb.

Should we avoid playing at the same time, or just avoid being at the same table together? Does FT even allow you to have two accounts running on the same connection? Obv. deposit/withdrawal accounts will be different, so we shouldn't need to worry about that.

Thanks!
Me and my GF play on FTP at the same time all the time. We never play the same tables though and I notified FTP to make sure they knew and were ok with it.

F october imo.

Also, on the topic of berating fish. I'm going to keep this short, but basically don't do it. If there is a table coach fish, I like to talk to them, but I always keep it pretty nice. If they are chatting they are probably not playing many tables and just trying to have a good time.

For example, last night I beat a table coach fish when I flatted T6s (teh nutz obv) on the button and won a big pot vs his KT on a T6x flop. He started calling me a donk. Do I feel the need to defend myself? Hell no! I asked him what's a donk?? He tells me a guy that plays T6 is a donk. I said haha, any 2 cards can win in poker. That's why you have to play a lot of them. If you are going to give advice to fish, make sure it's advice like that and don't be a jerk about it.

I completely agree. I have no problem with communicating with fish so long as its friendly. Such as: "Man I cant beat you tonight" "Wow your lucky " and sometimes don't mind playing into the table coach fish as said by Equis as long as it doesn't discourage other fish from playing their fishy style. In other words don't let it get to the point of discussing strategy or letting the table coach tell you strategy and why you should and shouldn't do stuff. This is bad.

I'm having a decent October, except for the lack of volume. I'm at like 6.5ptbb over 10k hands. Oh AND I am up like 4 buyins in EV. I feel left out when everyone complains about how bad they run...

My table coaching recently has been convincing fish to buy in full. Just have them imagine how much more they'd have won when they shoved A7 with 100BB instead of 20!

This is basically what I will say, if anything, to a fish. If he wins a pot, I will basically be massaging his shoulders through the text with stuff like, "whoa nh man" etc etc. But I am 12 tabling most of the time so I usually don't say anything.

Been having a good month myself. This morning I had a hellish session losing two buyins by pretty much losing every race I was in. It would have been worse if not for a very good red line. I think I had 100BB of red line. One of my best.

Just let the fish have a good time. They are willing to loose their money so make everything possible they feel comfortable while doing this. Yeah, sometimes they will suck out realy bad against you and you want them to die in a grease fire but our profits are coming for them in the longrun.

Sorry luka I wasn't referring to your post. I just got through my post and realized it was really long and wanted to warn others of my post. I dont use the forum abbreviations much if you didn't realize.
I still feel altering a fishes view of the game in a negative way is -ev. Even if he keeps playing he will just be looking to play better against you. If he is making terrible calls why berate him and let him no they are bad. Just let him be happy and keep making the terrible plays.
