You remind me of a bitchy female, or a 5th grader, whichever is better for you.

That was sexist. Post reported for sexism.

That was also ageist. Post reported for ageism.

Otty probably hasn't seen this, but this was a thing a couple years ago here in the USA:

She became internet infamous and had to leave school for posting that online.

It's a common form of racism against Asian people to derogatorily mimick their speaking by saying nonsense words like "ching chang chow" in a fake accent, so intentionally misspelling a dude's name in that manner certainly evokes shades of that.

Perhaps Otty didn't know before, but now he does!

Man, did the thread dating coach really recommend talking about poker itt when in a large group of people? Holy ****, that is good advice if you DON'T want to get laid.
07-11-2013 , 10:17 PM
I didn't mean it in that way. I wasn't being racist. I promise

You assume correct. He's embarrassing.

first of all - just like Otty i didn't know this video until now.

don't want to derail any further and most certainly don't want to sound like a racist, but don't you think this is a little bit over the top?

this girl wasn't funny, is narrow minded and probably full of **** (especially the cooking / cleaning part?!) etc; but when you cut the asian references out of it - she kind of has a point, doesn't she? well, doesnt really matter anyway..

PC is fine in my opinion but this seems a little bit over the top? Having to leave ucla (just for that vid)?

And this is what we had the derail thread for. Lots of people use racist language but "don't mean it". That doesn't mean it isn't racist.

You're right, we should just laugh racism off because it's no big deal really.

There is a massive difference between using a known racist word + not meaning it versus saying an obscure, supposedly racist word that <10% of population thinks is racist.

This. Racism is based on perception. At what point does something become 'racist'?
07-12-2013 , 09:29 AM
He said "I didn't realise, sorry about that". That is fine.

But then people saying "oh, let's just laugh about it, racism - hah! no big deal!". That is not fine.

Also, there's a thread for this so I'll leave it at that.

The Asians in the library at UVA did this all the time

LaShawnda is a self hating Asian!

Just kidding.

That said, I think having to leave school was a little too much.

Um, I agree. Has absolutely nothing to do with what I said

Every time I post in this thread it has to be to your most recent post?
07-12-2013 , 11:44 AM
Chau, what if I have this job, and I'm not actually competent at it, but through the use of rhetoric and deception I get people to pay me money anyway. How should I talk about that? Should I first talk about my brother who does the same thing but in a different field to see if the girl is generally receptive to this type of thing?
07-12-2013 , 11:45 AM
Have not heard back from a girl who said she would "let me know" a few days ago if she is free this weekend to do something. I don't know exactly what "let me know' means from this girl and I can generally tell when it means no. Should I contact her in the next few hours to see if she is free or just wait for her to respond if she does at all...I will probably find out whether the "let me know" is actually a no in a few hours anyway...I'll just wait unless you guys think otherwise.
07-12-2013 , 11:48 AM
I wouldn't text her.
07-12-2013 , 11:53 AM
Don't contact her.

Double,

I remember SlowHabit did something shady years ago, what exactly happened again?

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/33...-book-1134710/

Then there's The Poker Blueprint or whatever it was as well.

I suppose a viable position is that if people are stupid enough to actually pay for his book then power to him. However I think that for the well being of the community people such as himself should be actively outed and excluded.

She had no plans of letting you know. This was a clear rejection. I would move on and not text her.

You guys are ridiculous. Acting all butthurt over someone saying chow instead of chau. Please.
