I do think that girls in Germany are more prudish than American girls, but I dont think there are huge cultural differences.
There are obviously differences between Western states + Australia/NZ, but nothing that sticks out or will make your life overly complicated.

I've never lived in Asia or Africa, but I'd imagine it's a lot more complicated to adapt there as a Euro/American/Aussie than it is in any of the "Western" countries.

Yeah, i've heard that from a lot of ppl so far.

Any other insights from a german perspective? I (german) will move to flordia in ~5 weeks for grad school.

Or in general for international students?

So I play poker for a living and there's a girl at the casino I want to get on good terms with. I've seen her for over a year, and know that she finds me physically attractrive.

My demeanor in the casino has been surly, quiet, and anti social. Most workers are either indifferent towards me or dislike me.

I approached her recently and she reacted coldly towards me, which I expected. I did nothing to improve the situation (stammering, nothing to talk about).

I want to show her that I'm a nice guy, am respectful, and make her laugh. Ideas?

Why waste your time fighting uphill? Not the answer you want to hear but the correct answer is move on.

Why not? I'm in there anyway and there nothing wrong with a challenge. Also, my short term girl is only to get on friendly terms with her, which isn't that I've a challenge.

don't know about normandy, never been there, but it doesn't sound superfun. But i'm sure there's a lot of things to see.
Did you like versailles ? Never been there either, but I believe it's nice.
where are you at in Paris ? Do you know the "arrondissement" ?
where you've been out at night so far ?

Because there are lots of girls you aren't already behind on.

Also, stop being surly quiet and anti-social, regardless.

This. You should start over with the goal of not setting up a negative general impression with a large group of people. I would change poker room if it was an option and start over making a better impression. Maybe return to the original poker room when time has passed and mastered being normal.

True, but I don't go out and meet girls. Why not just humor me?

Dude, you've posted three times and already annoy me.
Dont ask why a thousand times.

Start by analyzing what could cause other people to dislike you and then change that.
You describing yourself gave me the impression that you are proud of being surly, quiet and anti social. The quiet part is really not that bad, but the other two are weird.

I am not proud of it, I do have the ability to be engaging, charming, and friendly, but usually it takes awhile and I can only pull it off during one on one interactions, when I'm in social situations with multiple people I just turtle. It is especially difficult when I'm trying to break the ice with a girl as pretty as her.

I actually think there are a few posters that could make it as dating coaches. They would be a million times better then some of tools you see online.

Do you think its a lot tougher market for guys in their late 20s who don't live in big cities?. Ive met lots of new chicks but they always seem to be taken. Theres just not the jobs/ shopping/ anything to entice single chicks to move to where I live. Therfore would have to date like 21 year olds still at uni, which is too young really. Chicks seem to follow their friends around if they can (and the job market allows it). They all flock to the same city.
