My grandma chewed tobacco, Bull of the Woods brand. She'd spit into a Folger's can right by her chair there, lived to 102. Not even sure how she did it, she didn't have many teeth to speak of. Tough old lady, Ozark mountain folk ftw.

Golf..

you stand there until ready and hit a ball with a club with a big face. the ball isnt moving when you hit it like all the other sports. it is just sitting there propped up on a tee.

then you hit it at a target(the fairway) which is like 60 yards wide. big deal. and everyone then says good shot if it landed there.

then you pick up 40 pounds of metal and hike or drive if you are too fat to walk, down to wherever the ball is. and repeat the process. except now you get to bump it to a better spot so it is easier to hit it well.

a challenging sport isnt it. golf.

Ray talks about golf like it's not a sport. This from a pool hustler. You know, a real sport.

Beechnut. The tobacco candy chew. Sweet stuff - I used to chew it some back in my working class days. And I'd smoke Swisher Sweets. Not no more.

Caught a few pitches here & there. Yes, they did. Kind of bothers me that there's noticeable borders around each person's image. Should've done a better job trimming off the extra space.

Later on, saw some of SD @ SF. had cardboard cutouts of people, but seemingly randomly scattered--bunches of empty seats around groups of pictures.

I wonder if the pictures were season ticket holders, placed in their proper seats.

So here it is August first and I am getting ready to watch round one of playoff hockey? I can't wait for all of this virus nonsense to be behind us! Baseball will probably be done within the week

Anyway GO Blackhawks!!!! I can only hope the long layoff gives them a chance as they sucked in the pre-covid environment.

Probably my least isolated weekend in recent memory. Golf on Friday with a couple old high school friends and lunch after. Spent the weekend in Newport, first meeting up with Rick Nebiolo for dinner and drinks, and the rest of the night in the company of two lovely women drinking wine. Nap followed when I got home. Now ready for further isolation.

No, you are not old, not yet anyway - don’t fall into that trap. And the said trap is not just set by yourself, but by others also. Keep your wits about you.

Nap: (Noun) the raised hairs, threads, or similar projections on the surface of fabric or suede (used especially with reference to the direction in which they naturally lie).
