Excuse me, but John Cole would never have a username beginning with a lower case letter.

The reference does appear to be authentic John Cole.

with all seriousness, anyone in the trades should do all they can to promote the trades to other folks as a valid career choice. for far too long in this country the idea of working in the trades or going to a trade school has been stigmatized as being the next to last resort, right before enlisting in the military, for those who aren't able to 'hack it' in college. for some reason the ideal situation is to go to at least four years of college and incur the corresponding debt. if you don't choose the right college major well then good luck digging yourself out of that debt hole.

Europe has a robust model of apprenticeship where companies and contractors sponsor (pay) apprentices to go to school while also learning on the job. choosing a career path in skilled labor for young adults is perceived as a great choice. when you get paid while going to school the amount of debt is obviously much less than the US model, and by constantly replenishing the talent pool they don't face the same challenges as the US, where the average age of trades people is in their 50s and there isn't a large pool of younger people in line to replace them.

Plus you never need to worry about robots taking your job. Plumbers, electricians, heating/ac guys will always be in demand.

I have worn sandals but never flip-flops because they would fall off my feet. I am definitely John. (However, everyone in my family calls me Johnny.)

On the other hand, my reaction would be about the same no matter what woman texted me at 3:00am.

Well this Friday is opening day! At this time last year my team was done for, so I got hope going for me anyway

Covid has had very little impact on my life which means I am pretty boring. Then again I was "supposed" to be in Germany right now with a bunch of old college friends on a 45th anniversary of our college trip back in '75.

I just roll with the punches and keep going forward.

the Mets broadcast is fun right now

I like Nimmo, McNeil and Alonso
