Mrs k was sick, and most of northern Britain is under water, so it was a low key Christmas mostly spent picking up dog crap in the dark and rain. Now I've caught Mrs k's bug. Happy days.

If you're getting beans from a local roaster, try their Ethiopian if they have them. From the Hambela region is my current favorite by far.

Thanks, I'll check it out. There are some decent places to source beans here so I should be able to experiment. I tend to prefer the old school style roast, rather than more fashionable 'citrusy' light roasts.

anyway jk rowling's detective novel is basically written for me. this big fat middle aged loser is sleeping on a sleeping pad, eating ramen, and hanging out with models. it's pretty great.

people go to the gym to pretend. same reason they go to church. tricep extensions are genuflecting at the sweaty altar of an empty god. personal trainers are the clergy, leading the faithful through meaningless rites of propitiation.

The only good things about a gym are yoga pants and squat racks.

Wife missed a step and badly sprained her ankle. Has a boot on it for the next two weeks. We've got a 14 hour drive through a winter storm, and a cruise booked leaving on the 3rd.
