very unlikely online poker gets attached until we see more progress on the issue. Too many issues still need to be worked out. Congress needs more time to debate the many issues of the states, tribes, lottery, etc Attachment becomes much more likely if we can a bill marked-up and voted out of a few committees and a floor vote in at least one chamber. Kind of hard too see how this gets attached without more progress being made on the issue.

IMO, the big if is an agreement on the payroll tax extension and how to pay for it.

I agree. Unfortunately the real sweat is in this left/right battle and a compromise between the children.

This is great but what I really want to know are the details. Will states have to opt-in? My state of texas won't opt-in anytime soon if ever.

States need to be auto-opted-in.

The plot thickens. I think if to much info on the 'how's and when’s" get out to mainstream media to soon it could hurt us.

I don't want unemployed entitlement bound hippies who sit around all day on Twitter (oh wait that's me minus the entitlement part) to get word of this. Social media outcry would be bad for us.

If it is attached and it doesn't go viral before the tax extension passes, it can be spun as help paying for the cut while at the same time banning proliferation of online gambling and protecting B&M jobs. It's a lot easier for poker to not even be brought up at all b/c the news channels will be talking all about the payroll tax and not us.

Unless this is just part of Reid/Kyl's plan? Maybe they need to float the idea a few time to test the waters before going full bore and finding the time and bill to attach I-poker. Hope its real this time.

I think a lot has changed since December 2010 and I think the number of lawmakers who would oppose this has dropped dramatically, including and in part as a result of Kyl.

Biggest thing I would imagine being the DOJ ruling which has forced the federal government to act. Kyl is willing to give into online poker if it means banning all other forms of internet gambling. The last thing the federal government wants is a bunch of states going around doing their own thing when in regards to online gambling.
