So Alex had no actual proof that $30K, oh wait, 30,000 Euros were stolen, but wait, you forgot to mention that he gave you $10K, oh wait, 10,000 Euros to carry on the plane, so you assume he and his wife also were carrying the same amount. Then you left the door unlocked, came back, realized that the 300 Euros were gone but the place wasn't really disturbed and nothing else looked like it was missing, so the thieves magically found a stack of 30,000 Euros somewhere and stole that, nothing else and didn't disturb anything in the apartment.

This all after a guy watched you play once live, watched you play "a couple of sessions" online, agreed to stake you, watched you suck, agreed to bring you to Europe anyway, watched you suck even more there, accused you of stealing his "30,000 Euros," had you followed and then left you to die, but said he would consider staking you again in the future after you repaid him, even though he said he would have respected you more had you stolen the money.

Oh wait, and he suddenly was at the consulate with you when you were in tears calling your parents?

Come on, dude. You're pathetic.

boom headshot! OP game is over.

If you don't want to believe me, then thats fine. What incentive would I have to make up such a story? Once again, I'm not looking for donations, just valid advice on how I can turn my life around.

Once again, I appreciate the serious responses for those who have posted. I'm at The Doubletree Hotel in New York with nothing to do all day and my flight for Ann Arbor doesn't leave until 4pm tomorrow, so Ill be sure to check the thread throughout the day. TY all

You don't pay back 30G in Euros you didn't take, that's just ridiculous.

EOS.

And Nermal, I'm pretty sure Alex would notice if 30k was missing. What I said is I have no way of knowing if the stolen amount was 30k, 20k, 10k, etc.

Whether or not it was Euros or dollars, I don't know and is not important. When passing through customs, he gave me 10k US, so I assume its US, but i don't know. But then again, thats really not the point.

As for the phone call that was made to my parents, Alex wanted to verify with my parents what had happened. He also wanted to know if I had a place to stay and whether they were on board with the fact that I had a responsibility to pay him back his money. My phone call to my parents from the US Consulate was made prior to this.

The point is that I screwed up bad, ended up in the gutter (which I deserved), and now am attempting to turn things around. I have plenty of pictures of Nice on my cell phone and Ill post them as soon as possible, although its not a huge concern of mine whether a couple of you don't believe me.

As far as "Would Stake Again" thing is concerned, I wouldn't go too far in using that as a deciding factor whether the story is true or not.

Obv this dude wouldn't stake him again, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't say that he would if he thought it would improve his chances getting his money back in the slightest.

You definitely shouldn't pay him back the 30k. Screw him, he threw you out for something you didn't do. Just be like this is what happened, I didn't lock the front door, someone robbed us, took your 30k, I'm sorry. He doesn't accept that then screw him. Your in the U.S he is in France. Work for a little while, make enough to get financially set, then start grinding again.

I actually know someone (technically, I guess, my stepbrother, as my mom recently married his dad) who dropped out of Michigan after a year and a half, ended up as a doorman in NYC, lost that job because he's a druggie and now essentially is broke. Just because you're book-smart doesn't mean you can't be a moron, too.

I can completely understand why he threw me out. Even though I didn't take the money, I was responsible for it being stolen.

And nermal, yes. Book smarts doesn't always translate into being smart and more importantly honorable in the real world

the discussion about whether he should pay him back or not is pointless

I think its fairly important. I have a moral responsibility to pay him back. That being said, legally, I don't have to give him a single dime. I think the discretion is important

Wow, if you actually pay him back the 30k.........I don't know but that would be ******ed unless you hit the lotto. Seriously it wasn't your fault. Sure you forgot to lock the door and got robbed but it's more or less his fault for not hiding the 30k better. What did he just have it lying on the livingroom coffee table? ffs, tell him you're not paying him back and to deal with it.

When do you plan on having 30K? Which 30K is going to him? The first? When you have 60? More? When do you plan on having that much?
