Companies that are on 24 hour a day development schedule have meetings scheduled at some odd times. Like having part of the team on the West Coast and scheduling a meeting with personnel in India means that some people are going toa meeting at odd hours.

@suzzer - I pretty much agree with Craggoo, part of the deal in working remotely. Looks you will just have to go with the flow. Your manager seems like the type that will be on your case until you fall into line. You're new and your manager is evaluating you. Just do it.

Ok that's sort of funny. Can't believe someone would ask him fizzbuzz assuming he would likely be interviewing for spots above junior dev.

Seems like an issue on his part with screening interview opportunities.

There's a healthy thread on HN attached to that article. Of course, some talked about how to improve it, but it is apparently very difficult to teach a neural net how to count.

They make it sound like many senior devs can't pass fizzbuzz, so it isn't a total waste of time to ask.

Obviously a joke, but I'd have to laugh and play along if I was the interviewer.

Considering the responses, asking every senior hire to whiteboard this is clearly the optimal solution.

I'm sure a two minute whiteboard in the context of 10+ hours of interview can't be *that* much of a waste of time.

Remember the interview answers I gave? I wish I'd have the wherewithal to tell the real stories, but eh...

A while back, I went on an interview with some company here in Austin. They asked if I'd be okay doing 8am to midnight "once in a while." I said maybe once a month or so. The interviewers kind of glanced at each other and said no, this will be your schedule for the next six months, with weekends included.

The guy scowled at me and said "We believe work comes first in our lives."

The job was paying $34k per year. I didn't bother asking about the hourly rate.

I don't recall the company name. It was up near playland skate center on North MoPac, but I tend to apply, interview, and forgot. This was almost a year ago.

If it matters, I was applying for an Excel jockey position. I know the company had devs, but not sure how they are treated. Probably the same.
