So yeah, they beat one of them every 2.5 years.

USA's beaten Spain in 2009, Italy in 2012 and Germay in 2013, so that's every a win every 1.4 years for us. Sounds like we're ~70% better.
Afaict we play them a lot less as well.

Did the draw thingy once:

Spain, US, Ecuador, Netherlands.

Would have done it again but the tears seems to have shorted out my keyboard.

yeah, i guess so. don't think australians care too much about the "rivalry" with NZ, though it seems important to NZers.

one of them? did you actually look at their results? in the past 1 and a half year they played spain, italy 2x, brazil 2x, france, belgium and the netherlands, of those games they only lost vs. Netherlands, they beat italy, brazil, spain and belgium and drew with france (along with additional draws vs brazil and italy). This is in the past 18 months or so.

looking at the past decade in international football when trying to analyse current state of affairs is short-sighted at best

implying that the USA should be anything else than a size-able underdog vs. England makes you one (or all) of: a troll, blinded by homerism or just seriously lacking in knowledge of the game

i watched a handful of USA games in qualifying and they legit struggled in the ones i watched which is just lol when taking into regard the seemingly high estimation you have of them and the relative ability of the teams in CONCACAF. I mean you don't even need to look further than their team-sheet, it just doesn't match up at all.
England gets perpetually underestimated by most (at least judging by posters on this forum) which maybe isn't strange given the expectations that come when it's league is the pinnacle of interest in the footballing world and they "invented" association football. But their results are rarely poor, they have lost only 2 of their last 24 matches and they've lost i think 5 or less times since 2010. Sure the current squad doesn't look as good on paper as it has in recent past, couple of formerly key players aging etc., but the US team sure as **** doesn't match up.

I'm not a USA hater, i have a US passport and always root for you guys but i am, however, a hater of sick delusion.

like i said, i'm a USA supporter when they play vs. almost anyone so no i'm very happy that you guys got a promising attacker

he definitely would have been useful for us though, takes the sting out of it a bit that Sigthorsson and Finnbogason are both > him but yeah, in the long run he's def. gonna be a loss for us.

Mexico won't be in any group.

You lost to Honduras and Costa Rica, the best team you beat was Mexico who are awful and every other teams you beat are lolbad.
In England's 22 games they beat + drew with Switzerland (Euro 2012 qualifying group - in which they were also unbeaten), drew with France, beat Ukraine + Sweden, drew with Italy (Euro 2012), went unbeaten in World Cup qualifying in a group that contains Ukraine + Poland (both are better than Mexico and are equal to or better than the USA).

England have looked unimpressive because of Roy Hodgson's management style - he likes to make teams hard to beat. He finally had England playing attacking football vs. Montenegro + Poland at last and England actually looked great for the first time in ages.

Kings of CONCACAF is not an achievement lol.
I'm not sure what the big deal is about losing to Honduras and Costa Rica on the road. Mexico hasn't won a game in Honduras since 1993 so it can't be that easy to win there.

We played Bosnia on the road very recently and beat them. We beat Germany. Mexico is not the best team we beat this year.

I wouldn't compare the US team to England though, especially with that awful back four the US has.

I kept hearing a lot of the same talk before the last World Cup about how good England was though. If England was as good as its fans said, I think they would have done much better than they did. I still think that England>>>>>US obviously but for all the talk about how great England was in 2010, if that sort of talk was true, then that was a shockingly horrible performance by England.

Another problem I have with these discussions is teams that often look great on paper often don't look nearly as good on the field. Other teams play better than they look on paper. There's a lot more to sports than just comparing rosters or looking for big names.
