Maybe Guzan wants to make sure he doesn't miss time with Hull?

Weird, MH is ~40 and doesn't have much of a future with the USMNT.

Hey all, I'm part of a group here in Detroit called MCS, which stands for Motor City Supporters. We are the local rowdy mob of fans for the National Team here in Detroit.

For any of you out there that are thinking about attending this game but aren't sure since "it's in Detroit", let me assure you Detroit is a cool place, if you know what to do and what to avoid.

That being said, i'd like to extend a personal invitation to any of you out there with questions about where to stay or maybe helping with plans outside of the game to PM me and i'll help as best I can.

Cheers

Also, for those who missed it, Agudelo was fantastic against Seattle last night. Just a physical beast with good instincts and a boatload of potential. Scored a great goal and drew a penalty. He's still so young and the sky's the limit with him. I can see him and Altidore being such a handful for opposing backlines in the future.

yeah I only caught a replay of his goal, but the awareness to use his body the way he did to knock the defender off him, then the cool (but powerful) outside foot finish was sublime. I was only sparingly watching the game, so not much else to say. I hope the kid comes correct. We've had too many young up and coming strikers fizzle out.

I really don't think he will (fizzle out that is).

The goal was obviously excellent but there was so many other little things during the game that were extraordinarily impressive. I can't count the number of times that he seemingly effortlessly held a defender off and knocked a ball down and moved it.

Say what you want about the standard of MLS defending, but this is not a league of poor athletes. MLS is chock full of big strong fast ****ers (almost to a fault), so to see Agudelo already beasting at his age is so promising. He's also got good composure and seems relaxed on the ball. He's obviously far from polished yet, but his poise makes me think that vision, creativity, etc. will come in time (as opposed to so many of MLS' great athletes who panic a bit with the ball at their feet).

USMNT fans would do well to check out as many NYRB games as possible this year, to watch both he and Ream (apologies that you'll have to watch Marquez too).

I thought of going, then looked at the price and thought there was no chance it would sell out and I'd be able to get tickets below face value later.

whats Guzan's ultimate role for the National team? will he ever even take over for Howard? haven't talked to him in forever so i dont even know what club he plays for anymore

Guzan is on loan to Hull City until the bionic man Friedel finally quits. He still definitely has a future for the USMNT because he's 6 years younger than Howard and GKs age pretty well.

Really? Friedel is a former USMNT GK. He was the #1 in 2002 and should have been the #1 in 98. Probably has the strongest resume of any American GK ever. He's 39 and plays for Aston Villa. Guzan was brought in to replace him awhile ago on the assumption Friedel would quit or get hurt but the man is unstoppable.

If true, this thread should probably be more listening and learning than talking for you.
