that's all I'm saying, it was all 3 of those things

This is what annoys me about the NFL. No one can conclusively say (yet so many people do) that either of these teams is better than the other. Gotta run it a few more times to really know. Denver effectively played as well as the Jaguars in that game; a 4-12 team showed up for this game.

KAMGOAT live look-in midnight tonight maybe.
Credit where it's due; that was a sick prediction

Jags also put up 17 at Seattle. Don't be putting Jacksonville down for no reason.

conspiracy theorists from last year (this is totally joking), why didn't the NFL do something to make last nights game close....saved peyton from embarrassment.

The only thing that kept the jags from going 19-0 was variance. Run that season 1000 times and you'll see

You run this game 100 times 100 times Denver's line can't block the rush. Maybe variance shows up in other ways and Denver wins some of those, but there's a lot of fundamental matchup problems Denver faced (that again, I think are a HUGE part of why they looked so bad).

One point FO made in one of their preview was that teams avoided running a lot of shotgun vs the Hawks 'cause of the heat, and Denver is a shotgun heavy team. On one of the turnovers I just focused on Clemons (it was the play where Avril got there) to see where he was in the backfield by the time the ball got to Peyton, and yeah, basically beat his man before Peyton touched the ball.

Jags had the worst point differential and lowest points for, which is why I picked them as the example. But by their regular season game against them, actually even a better example.

Also, would be interested in seeing how it ran out if the Seahawks lost to the Rams, TB, or Texans, and they had to be the wildcard instead.

I still remember my reaction to those games being "BS wins like this are how you win a championship, because now they're all going to have to come to Seattle". Even as good as the Hawks are, luck is still huge.

This is Bill from Yonkers and I know the Seahawks won, but what happened to Big Mouth Richard Sherman? Did he even play last night? This guy runs his mouth about how he's the greatest and yeah, his team won the game, but what did he do to help them? You always know these big mouth guys are gonna be the last guys to show up in the big game and that's what we saw last night.

Just contrast that to how little pressure Manning was under in the AFC Championship game... or even most of the regular season.

Hasn't it been clear for a decade that you can't let an elite passer just sit in the pocket? Why are most teams so bad at it?

You've gotta be able to get there with 4, and not every team can do that (and not every team can do that without making themselves super weak vs the run).

Hawks are special.

It's really hard to either get consistent pressure with four rushers or hold up in the secondary while bringing extra guys, it's not like teams don't know that rushing the passer is a good thing

this has to be a joke, right? 2 teams make it to the Super Bowl with 2 weeks to prepare, and that game last night wasn't enough to tell you that Seattle is the better team? they beat the piss out of the Broncos in all 3 phases of the game.

football, and all American sports (like it or not) are set up so the regular season is just qualifying for games that matter, the playoffs.

Peyton has a sub-.500 record in games that matter. and the most shocking stat i heard this morning is this:

in the 1 Super Bowl Peyton did win, the opposing QB had a rating of ****ing 7. the one Super Bowl he won the opposing QB played 3 times worse than he did last night, and last night was pretty awful.

any1 can trot out regular stats and show how Peyton is .2%-2% better than other QBs of his generation in the regular season like that means anything. it doesn't.

in games that matter Peyton is nothing special, which is why people who understand the sport barely have him cracking the top 5 of all-time, if he's even in the top-5.
