Chris Houston has really come into his own since coming to DET. He's turning into a serious playmaker for us.

Same for Eric Wright, just on a lower scale atm. But he's got decent ball skills (thats what she said) and he tackles really well in space.

I honestly don't know dick about Bears CBs. Just went by the number of picks and similar number of tackles to base my judgement. Plus what I know/have seen of Houston/Wright. :/
Imo, Wright was overachieving a bit early in the season, but has since come back down to Earth. Houston is solid and Berry has seized the nickel job...may be a future starter. I loooove the Bears corners though. Tillman and Jennings are super physical and never get pushed around. Both have decent ball skills as well. Each of them consistently get good jams and are great fits for the cover 2. D.J. Moore would start on most teams.

He's also only missed one game over the past 2.5 seasons while taking an almost incomparable beating. Stafford can't say that.

But then they are so damn flawed up the middle on both sides. Linebackers, safeties, interior offensive line. Not to mention the corners softer than Charmin. Some of these "tackles" attempted by Aso, DRC, Asante are are ****ing embarrassment. DRC pulling off of the receiver in that game sums up the unit on the year. Just lol.
Eagles would be super elite in the NFL ten years from now. But right now the players they have are too easily roughed up.

Jennings & Tillman are certainly better, that's a top 5 duo. I think Lions have quality corners finally but they are more league average. Lions defense better than the Bears as is the offense... Lions clearly the best team now and into the forseeable future.

Just based on what I know about them and their general success this year. TBH I haven't seen much of DET's CBs but I liked Wright in CLE so I'm not too surprised. Heard some good things about Houston too. Not really an area I feel strongly about but that CHI CBs are probably slightly better or at least it's not anywhere close to being a DET > CHI lock.

And ofc his stats are skewed because of Megatron. But he can make any/all throws and his proven so fairly regularly.

It's not like Cutler TOTALLY lacks weapons. Foster. :3
Durability is definitely *not* w/e. Health is a skill. For all the hate Cutler gets he's only missed one game in his career since he became a starter (76/77 games). Stafford has missed 19 (21/40). That definitely matters.

I certainly think Stafford is a fine QB but the evidence is not anywhere near suggesting he's definitely or significantly better. I assume you mean Cutler has Forte, which is true, but I mean, his best receiver is Earl Bennett.

seems like it'd be a mistake to fire reid. for w/e mistakes he makes in end game scenarios wrt clock or w/e, he has an excellent rep in terms strategy, x's/o's, gameplanning etc and ultimately those skills are more valuable. eagles are still only halfway through a season on a team with some key defensive acquisitions. hard to pin their loss tonight on coaching fail anyway. dropped passes, penalties.

I think on a certain level Reid is a fine coach, but on another level, given his influence over front-office decisions, he may have to take the fall for this season.

And you can certainly argue that penalties are the result of undisciplined coaching.

yeah maybe, but just remove personnel decisions in that case. also like i said above, seems like people were jumping the gun in assuming things were going to click immediately. they have talent, but also have some pretty clear holes, though that goes back to personnel decisions.

possibly. hard for me to believe that coaches don't frequently tell players not to do certain things. like on that offsides play a few weeks ago on 3rd and w/e; they were obv warned that the offense would try to draw them offsides. some players are just mental midgets

and like, a week ago reid is having his praises sung for having a great game plan and smashing the cowboys. they looked unstoppable last week. he seemed to "put themself in a position to win" this week as well, but the receivers played like balls and vick reverted to some bad habits. not much of what they tried that looked ill conceived, just poorly executed

edit: and the bears d matches up pretty well i think. they have speed in the front 7 with urlacher, briggs, and peppers. they disguised coverages well, and based on what the announcers said/vick said in the post game, threw vick off balance w/looks besides cover 2 and he struggled to adjust. they got away with some really awful throws that were as bad as the drops

wasn't too surprised by what the bears' d was able to do but their offense far surpassed expectations. line looked solid and cutler had some great escapes

Not sure if you were watching tonight, but Cutler had fantastic protection all night and the O-line more or less neutralized a top 10 pass rush. Officially gave up one sack on the fumbled snap I believe, but unofficially, no sacks given up tonight, and that was probably the difference in the game.

No Frank Omiyale ****ing things up is such a massive positive for that group. Starting to get really concerned about Carimi's injury though; it was supposed to be a 2 week recovery, but now it's approaching 2 months.

OL is still pretty terrible-

-martz called a pretty good game, a lot more of cutler out of the pocket than usual it seemed (not sure what the **** that 3rd and 1 call deep in PHI territory was though)

-both barber and forte ran well so the eagles had to protect against the run

-cutlers also pretty damn good at sack avoidance so when his OL isnt total dog**** hes ofc gonna make them look better

all of those are pretty huge factors in what seemed to be a good effort from the bears OL. i mean i guess its possible they woke up and became a really good pass protecting unit but i doubt it

Under most circumstances I'd say lol @ firing Reid. But damn he took a big gamble by making an offensive line coach his DC. That's entirely on him and seemed a completely unnecessary risk.

Not today obv I'm saying if they finish 8-8 or worse. Andy Reid has not earned tenure any more than Jeff Fisher did in Tennessee. A change is gonna come. Just going to throw out random names cuz I feel like it...

Mike Zimmer
Josh McDaniels
Jerry Gray
Mike Shula
Russ Grimm
Ken Zampese

yeah firing reid for one of those guys seems like a huge error. those are not experienced coaches and you have a team trying to win right now

if this is true, it's mitigated a lot by the lions passing much more than they run. the bears don't seem any good at run blocking either lol, forte just seems good

The Bengals wouldnt allow Kevin Coyle their defensive backs coach to interview for Eagles defensive coordinator position. He had Vick agreed in principle to join Bengals just saying.

I'm about as critical of our O-line as anyone, but this was by far their best performance of the season. I think they deserve some dap for shutting out Cole, Babin and Jenkins tonight.

Merril Hoge thinks the Packers have the GOAT offense. Has to be a level. Although I wonder how they stack up through 8 games to the best. That Patriots offense seems clearly better.

Patriots scored 38, 38, 38, 34, 34, 48, 49, 52, 24, 56, 31, 27, 34, 20, 28, 38. Holy ****ing ****.

Packers currently 42, 30, 27, 49, 25, 24, 33, 45.

Not close brah.

I corrected my earlier statement. It's pretty close, but I still think Stafford is a better QB. Yes, he's had injury issues in the past, but if that ridiculous hit Peppers put on him in Game 1 last year never happened, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I doubt anyone but Lions fans agree w/ me here, but damn. That was a nasty hit and I doubt many QBs (or anyone) would have gotten back up after that.

He had that knee/ankle thing against the Falcons, but it was a pretty ****ed up hit as well. It's not like he's getting tapped and he falls apart.

tl;dr.

Seems pretty unlikely tho.
