Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics
how much of the difference in home court advantage between the NBA and NHL playoffs can be explained by reffing? 50%? 90%? 3000%?

How can you be so OBTUSE.

30% chance to win down 2 with 20 sec left on road without bron seems pretty good tho. if the heat could get a guaranteed 2 right away theyre still only going to win like ~30% maybe even less

Wade is now 2-15 on potential game winning 3pt shots under 30s.

Marquis Daniels is looking right at him, and isn't really engaged with Battiaids (kinda just leaning over near MD) If Wade tries to pass it from here, Daniels is playing center field basically, and could easily snatch it.
You'd need to see the video, to see how Wade really messed this play up. Chalmers came off the screen long before this still was taken, and DW just dribbled to the left side, ignoring the play.
I blamed Spo for getting off only 1 look in 21s, and it being a Wade 3 as time expired, but this isn't on him. He drew up a nice play, that will go unnoticed. Spo set up their most clutch player, with a potentially great look to win the game.

Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics
Great post Scherer.
I def. think Wade went all Maverick on that last play after Goose, I mean LeBron fouled out, with 6 fouls after not actually committing one foul, in his opinion. Spo' can not be happy, and maybe we the NBA fans will get treated to another Spo' & Wade meltdown.
LeBron is going to get fined for criticizing the officials so harshly right?

Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics
Not sure what LeBron said? I only heard him mention that he didn't foul out, doesn't foul out yada yada. He didn't even do a presser, and neither did Wade.
Here's a breakdown of the final play by Sebastian Pruiti (grantland) and you can see from a side-angle, that if Wade decided to lob it over the top, Daniels was there and waiting. But this is clearly Wade's fault, because he never made an effort to get back to the right side of the court, where chalmers and the action was.

ETA: this was the highest rated nba game ever on cable, at 7.9. got 19/20s in bos/mia.

And even if you ignore the LeBron calls, Celtics were still up at least 5 whistles. Refs decided this game MUCH, MUCH more than Game 2.

Iggy is not a troll. I don't agree with a lot of what he says, but at least he makes an attempt to back it up with some form of evidence.

I'm pretty sure I saw some atrocious ranking of NFL QBs (worse than that 12. carson palmer dude) by Iggy a few months ago which removed any doubt

Iggy's on another level beyond the standard complaining about the refs.
Saying it was the most one sided refereed game since the 06 finals is just so brutally wrong. Though it is interesting to see the effect bias can have on a normally intelligent person.

I don't even think '06 finals were the terrible screw job everyone else seems to believe it was and I was rooting for the Mavs. Things are not that clear cut that we need to go around calling a guy that has contributed a lot to TZ a troll.

The problem I have is all the Boston fans cry riggage in Game 2 but don't you dare complain about Game 4 because that was standard.

I'm not calling him a troll. I think he's likely serious, and very wrong in this instance. I also think he's normally a good poster.
* I think Wade got way too good of treatment from the refs in the 06 finals, but w/e, I'm prob a little biased.

I dunno. He's being pretty darn obtuse. See dean's responses to him.
I don't deny Cs got some home cooking, but this wasn't as poorly officiated as game 2 and wasn't on the level of game 3 in the '06 finals (and I agree the series as a whole wasnt the screw job many purport it to be, and it's sad Dallas didn't win a single game after that).
He totally lawyered up in technical BS with his disdain over bron's 6th but not pierce's 6th. "he matters more". Gmab.
And it's obv false that a blown foul call in the waning seconds of a tie game that both gyps the team of go-ahead FTs and gives the opponent a 5v4 situation on the other end is MUCH more costly in terms of win equity than slanker James getting a weak foul out in OT.
