I supported Izzy’s callout, but how on earth does a fighter miss weight in two title fights (one IC), and gets another shot after two losses.

Dana must fear him.

Costa wasn't ready and there wasn't anyone else to do it with.

Also, Yoel last 2 decision losses were dubious.

I’m on board with the two controversial losses. I just feel like 99% of fighters don’t get another shot after missing weight TWICE in prior title bouts.

Was it a clear cut outpointing for Izzy??

The matchmakers didn't want to make the fight. Dana did though because he thought he could sell it, and IMO he did a hell of a job of selling it considering Yoel had lost 2 fights in a row and 3 of his last 4 fights.

Media scores:

11 had 48-47 Izzy
1 had a draw
6 had 48-47 Romero

None had 49-46 Izzy although 1 judge saw it that way.

This means that one person scored the first 10-10? I get that scoring level rounds may seem like a cop out but if you can do that then I'd have gone 10-10 also.

Well I guess that's one of the greatest fighters who ever lost 4 out of 5. Izzy escapes now there's hell to pay for non iron men.

10-10 is stupid...Romero landed a flush overhand right in that round, he won the round. You don't score a round 10-10 when one guy lands a shot like that and the other does nothing.

People can say they have no problem with the decision but that being 10-10 because you thought both guys didn't bring it isn't how a sport works.

i wish the best for Romero but his as guilty for a boring fight ...

Anyway I never understood with his overweight in some title fight , why he never moved up .

Yeah his old now but I would just love to see how Jon Jones would deal with him at 205 for his last fight .....

No over weight issues , and not much competition for Jon Jones anyway at 205 imo .

But this fight I would love to see .

Romero’s biggest weakness, by far, is his gas tank. You can say he lost 4 out of his last five but more importantly he’s 0-3 in five round title fights. He tries to do nothing as much as possible to conserve his gas tank. This is why he doesn’t grapple. He took a good rest from the eye poke and immediately came out with a blast double with the extra energy the break gave him.

He used to fight at 205 and got knocked out by Feijao.

Not much competition at 205? Jon Jones lost his last fight in the eyes of virtually everyone that knows how to score fights. The fight before that he looked terrible while fighting a guy who was fighting on one leg.

Yoel Romero's reach is 73.5". Jon Jones's reach is 84.5" Jones is longer, bigger, and has a better chin than Izzy, plus he has outstanding wrestling. He would make easy work of Yoel Romero. Doesn't matter though because Yoel Romero will never get a major fight like that again.

Is there any reason it couldn't just happen in July or something once things get under control?

Seems doubtful for any major sporting event from now until end of April, then who knows.

Im sure the fight will happen eventually but if it doesnt happen as planned then Khabib has ramadan and will then need a couple months after that before hes ready to fight so probably looking around September/October before the fight would be made.

if the fight doesn't happen now it might never happen, not like there's any evidence that points to the end of pandemic in September

How many times has Khabib vs Tony been cancelled?
If they reschedule it, the next one will be postponed due to a comet hitting the Earth or something

This is the 5th time the fight has been made. First Khabib pulled out with a broken rib, next fight Tony had some issue with his lungs, next fight Khabib had weight cutting issues and had to go to hospital and then last time Tony tore up his knee tripping over a cable.

There is some rumblings on twitter that the UFC would consider having the fight in their Apex building that hosts TUF and The Contender Series but who knows at this point.

TUF is still a thing? I remember some pretty epic seasons but feels like about 10 years ago.

The last time a season ran was in 2018 but they still plan to do future seasons and when they do the fights will be in the UFC Apex facilities.

Just move the fight to the Apex Gym or whatever it's call with just the Ref, judges, coaches and Dana. Ez enough.
