^ I think that's a good fight for wonderboy and Lawler.

So we have Covington vs Woodley coming up. Anything else on the horizon in ww?

Covington on Ariel's show Monday. What do you guys think of him?

He is a complete and utter dickhead as a person but an excellent and probably underrated fighter. If Woodley cannot shuck him off and do damage early he will be in for a long night. If it goes past 3 rounds Covington will likely win. He is relentless. I still see Woodley as a -170 fav here though, I just see most of his paths to victory in the first 3 rounds. It's quite an intriguing matchup as Woodley hasn't faced a pressure wrestler in a long time.

^ You know, I follow MMA fairlyy closely, but from my perspective, Covington magically appeared as if from nowhere when he successfully kept it standing against Maia and said Brazilians are animals.

Same with Till. He came on my radar when he beat Cowboy. Am I just a hyper-casual in denial when it comes to WW?

As for who Covington is as a person, or fake persona, it's pretty gross. ...makes him more noticeable but less interesting. I might be in the minority, though. I've always liked Woodley and I guess he's unpopular.

He kind of popped on the scene nationally with this tweet:

^haha. Well I'm glad someone thinks he's cool. I like Mike "two phones" Perry so that can't be much better.

Btw, I got to hang out with Big John McCarthy's dad recently, was randomly sitting next to him at a local potluck/gathering in Flagstaff. Really cool guy and big MMA fan with 30 years on the LAPD. I brought up Conor vs Khabib and got the vibe he dislikes Conor's 'antics'.

Jon Jones 15-month retroactive suspension from USADA. Can resume his career on Oct. 28, 2018.

Looks like ufc 230 just got its main event.

^Wahoo!

Everyone thinks it's going to be Bones vs Gustafsson... seems like it should be vs DC though

Gustafsson put up a good fight against Jones in their first fight. Could be interesting.

^yeah I would need to rewatch it again. At the time, the fight seemed really close, but I've heard people say it was a dominant victory for Jones. I think Jones has trouble with long/tall fighters.

In any case, unless DC is injured it seems like that's the fight. No idea why not-

IIRC, Gustafsson got off to a good start but once he got rocked with some elbows in the late rounds, Jones took over. I remember the rounds being pretty easy to score and the fight being a clear 3-2 for Jones.

Probably because he already lost twice (though the latter fight was changed to a NC).

Unless Jones has some ring rust, I doubt the outcome is any different from the previous fights.

DC is fighting Brock before anyone else. Thats a way bigger $$$ fight than JBJ/DC.

I'd wager its Gus vs JBJ for interm 205.

DC fights Brock around Super Bowl.

DC vs JBJ in July unless he retires like he says he will.

^I think Jones/DC 3 does more PPV buys than Lesnar/DC. The 2nd fight did more than the first, and this would be for the heavyweight belt. The Lesnar fight is a gimmick. I think it's fine to let Brock fight for the Heavyweight belt, but having DC duck Jones so he can fight Brock instead, 5 or 6 months from now? Disgusting and ridiculous.

DC/Jones should sell more but sadly gimmicks sell well and I'd bet the casual fan's would be more interested in DC/Brock.

^going through all the UFC's biggest PPVs, none of them were gimmicks. I realize this cynical viewpoint is considered the modern paradigm, but there's no evidence to back it up.

No, #2 is UFC 100 where, againt Mir, Lesnar was defending the heavyweight belt he had just taken from Couture. How is that a gimmick? Seems legit to me.

Mcgregor went so personal with Khabib, no way he didn't get into Khabib's head. It was really wierd without the audience but Mcgregor was drunk & savage as hell, damn.

Man that press conference delivered lol. Khabib did a good job remaining calm for a while, but then he finally got triggered and rattled into the back and forth.

Cliffs from press conference:

- Mcgregor called out Khabib's dad for cuddling up with Chechean dictator and tried to pit Checheans against Dagestani's.
- Mcgregor said that Russia drove the Dagestani people to the edge of the mountains while the Irish fought back the British & that's why the Dagestani's are weak.
- Khabib asked Mcgregor then why does the Irish speak English?
- Mcgregor called Khabib's manager a terrorist and asked him where's Noah(his son that he hasn't paid child support to).

I feel like they're both in each others heads at this point, not sure how it came off to the public as it awkward without an audience but Mcgregor went below the belt. I think if Russian and Irish fans were in the building it could've gotten rowdy with the rhetoric being spewed, probably smart to make it only media.
