Conor isn't Kanye rich, he's really not that rich long-term yet

Once he achieves that, the ancillary stuff grows in importance

His career is also finite/fleeting. Good counter though.

I was just clowning around anyway. I see your point but I think it is a combo of both. He clearly, clearly has an ego and is also money driven. Both exist and seldom are opposed to each other, but which one wins when they are probably ebbs and flows like all of us.

well we agree that ego is a strong force with him which is why he wanted the rematch in the first place

similarly with your point about them (ego/money motivations) coalescing the bulk of the time; both of them aren't benefited by another loss to Diaz

I am starting to think he doesn't want to fight Diaz at 170. Don't know if he is training and realizes he isn't a good fit being that heavy vs Diaz who can handle that extra weight. I should have just agreed to their normal weight at 155.

I just have a hard time believing he doesn't want to promote when he has shown he loves being in front of the camera. If he thought about that burden before the rematch he would have told Dana White he need less promo duties, and even now if he was getting overwhelmed with those duties I am sure DW would have let him do less work.

The guy fights every three to four months and they are bogging down his training time with all these media tours. **** the media, let the media come to him and let the guy train. He can fight more and fight better.

INB4 this whole thing was staged. This IS the promotion. Well it may not be but I don't think it's that far fetched to think that McGregor and White are sitting back rubbing their hands together at how well this fight is hyped now which was the plan all along.

It could also be real I guess. The Nate fight was huge wake up call for McGregor. Plus the fight was pretty hyped without all this I guess.

All I know is that I'm a lot more interested in this fight now then I was before that tweet. I was gonna watch before but I was pretty meh. Now I can't wait. GG UFC.

I can't figure it out either. Either great free/easy promotion. Or Conor realized fighting him again at 170 is not a good career move. Either way I am more excited.

Just feels a littttle staged now. We have a genius business man in Dana having next to 0 control while his #1 draw goes rouge. I want to go back and see Dana's interview again where he's saying "fight is off!" and read his body language.

**** the pressers. Connor needs to win this fight, he doesn't need to waste time going on ESPN for 100th time. Those tweets by Conor were massive, everybody was talking about it. Get some UFC cameraman and fly them to iceland and get some cool behind scenes ****. When Conor is ready, he said he'll fly to new york.

According to the Joe Rogan podcast that tweet by conor was biggest athlete tweet of year. I was on Twitch and people were coming into chat "Did you hear Conor retired?!"

If they don't put Conor back on the card it's a poor decision. Not just for fans of Connor but fans of Diaz too who want to see him get KO'ed. This fight will be massive if it happens.

Did Conor want the Diaz fight at 170 though? I could be very wrong but didn't kavanagh(his coach) say or tweet that they wanted the rematch at 155 originally which would be wiser. I feel that this may be an underlying issue in all this too with conor probably pissed that he isn't getting paid enough for delivering again for the company. Dana is well known for being a serious liar, and I reckon he pushed this fight to being a WW bout just so the ufc can gloss another possible loss down to conor fighting at WW (even though Nate is a LW). In fact I reckon Dana pushed for the original fight to be at WW too and was clearly lying that Diaz wouldn't cut weight. If you look back at the first presser Dana looks at Nate sternly but guiltily when the topic off cutting was asked and Diaz says he was willing to. The steroids bust angle is also very plausible but until proven I personally discount any wrongdoing.

Open ended media obligations just seem terrible. It makes sense that the fighters who have a piece of the ppv are incentivized to do plenty of media but the RoI of the fighter's time should be taken into consideration at some point. Especially when fighters are rising to the star power of Conor and Ronda. Seems difficult to win a fight when your traveling for and or doing media full time leading up to the fight.

Maybe Anderson is even more clever than I've ever given him credit for when he goes on sports talk shows and acts like he can't speak English.

UFC200 press conference starting about now. Wonder if we will get any more news on the situation.

Heres the link incase anyone wants to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3gTwkCutlQ

Should note that these things rarely start on time.

If it was written in the contract that he signed saying he has to do promos and pressers then he should be a man and honor the contract.

Don't sign **** if you don't want to do what's written.

Dana said because no McGregor a title fight will main event UFC200. Does that mean that Miesha Tate vs Amanda Nunes is going to main event the "biggest event in UFC history" or are they going to call Aldo vs Edgar a title fight.

Robbie/GSP, Robbie/Nate, or (most likely) Bones/DC II as long as Jones is good to go after the OSP fight

St-Pierre also went on to state that a potential return doesn't necessarily have to happen at the upcoming milestone event in UFC 200 this July.

"Doesn't need to be 200," he said. "I know it will have Conor McGregor who will be fighting against Nate Diaz, and with that they will already have a good card."

The whole reason he was cageside at connor/diaz was for the callout and setup for a ufc 200 superfight between them.

wtf OD2D

you just ignore my post with his own quotes and respond to the one after

and use your brain, of course it's speculation but GSP hasn't been to a UFC event since his last fight

what is it with everyone needing everything to be presented to them and signed off by 5 witnesses first before they'll 'speculate' about things?

Dana made a point today about how everyone else at the press conference flew from all around the world to be there to promote the fight and be there to film commercialss so its unfair for McGregor to not attend and still be on the card.

Would the same not apply to those fights? Im not disagreeing with you and this isnt aimed at you but if Dana is gonna be a hypocrite and let someone on the card that wasnt there today to do the press conference/film commercials, wouldnt he be better off to just let that person be McGregor.
