Dana being a hypocrite is par for the course. It's a surprise when he's not. I could prbly come up with 15-20 examples and def pull out a quick 5 or 6 w/ 10 mins googling as a refresher. Saying there'd never be women in the UFC and his whole saga with Fedor are the easy ones.

There's also a difference when he's cobbling something together after new developments. Like the quote showed, decent chance GSP wasn't going to make it to 200 initially.

Obv Jones and Cormier will do whatever's asked if Jon is up to fighting at 200. Different situation altogether. It's like the difference in the NFL between someone sitting out training camp and showing up week 1 and signing someone right before the opener.

The whole situation just seems bizarre. McGregor wants to fight, Nate said if he isnt fighting McGregor then he is taking a vacation. The fans want to see McGregor fight, Dana said he wants to see him fight but Dana isnt willing to budge. I would understand if its a similar situation as with Nick Diaz where he just didnt show up and said nothing.

Also the stories about how they were willing to spend alot of money to facilitate McGregor by basically recreating his training camp in Vegas, but part of Dana's reasoning today was that the film crew were all there this week in vegas to film the commercials/promos for the fights.

UFC are going to lose alot of casual fans for UFC 200 that would order the fight just for McGregor and Dana said that his next fight will be against winner of Aldo/Edgar so theres a good chance there isnt ever a Diaz/McGregor rematch which although people dont think will have a different result it still would sell.

Feels like UFC is cutting of its noise to spite its face.

It's the hotter take, that is why I responded to it. Obviously I read yours and processed that info and now realize GSP is angling to comeback and presumably for a big $ fight. It isn't like I just didn't even look at your post at all. I read a lot of posts I don't respond to.

But saying GSP was there at Conor/Diaz means he was there for Conor and 200 was a wrap is still a leap. It is possible but I just thought for him to throw it out there as casually as he did that there must have been something more to it that I hadn't read/heard.

I know it is doable but putting someone on the ME of 200 that hasn't fought in almost 3 years is definitely out there.

It is a megafight but with it being 200 does GSP/Conor even do much better than like Conor/Dos Anjos or Conor/Lawler?

I personally am not clamoring to see Conor/GSP, couldn't stay off his back vs Mendes. GSP would LnP the **** out of him like he does everyone else. Unless he was extremely rusty but seems like he stays in shape.

GSP is such a boring fighter. I'd rather watch paint dry than Mr. Lay and Pray coast to a decision.

I don't know if there's been some rule change since GSP last fought but the rules should be changed to allow a ref more chances to stand fighters up. Watching one fighter lay on top of another fighter for 3 or 5 rounds and have both fighters wait for the decision without a scratch on them is about as boring as it gets.

I couldn't give a crap about GSP coming back. Forgot all about him tbh.

I wouldn't mind GSP coming back to fight someone that stood a good chance to punch him in the face like Lawler.

But Conor? Stylistically that seems awful and LnP all day.

Uh, am I the only one who saw Diaz say he's not fighting on July 9th if he's not fighting McGregor?

I agree gsp got a lot safer as time went on, but he did more that lay and pray and he controlled the **** out of everyone he faced except Hendricks for the most part. I have never been a big fan of his, and also found his style bland at times, but he dominated and damaged people.

Couple thoughts

1. Dana is bluffing and he's gonna have a huge spectacle and announce fight is on!

2. He is using conor's no show to try and put him on another card to boost ratings, maybe 201? think about it. UFC 201 at MSG with Mcgregor.

I don't think Dana realizes how big Conor's social media game is. He's old school and he thinks these pressers matter and doesn't see Conor's impact. I'll say this again, I was on twitch and all of sudden people started going nuts. "Conor is retired! conor is retired!". Doesn't happen with any other athlete.

Well cmg retiring before he has done anything will make more headlines than if he fought for 5 more years. Like a potential star retiring after a very good rookie year.

I can see Nate not taking another fight. Fighting anyone but McGregor might take a zero off the end of his paycheque.

I think that is possible, announcing the fight is back on will get alot of publicity so in a sense it would be somewhat of a waste to announce it this week when there is an event on that is already getting attention.

Does this OSP guy have any shot?
The MMA Thread Quote

No.

Jones has Tyson 2.0 ceiling - in every way.

Bones is only -600, I know that is a lot but consider he was already -350 vs Cormier who is obviously very formidable. I figured Bones would be like -800 for this thing.

Might need to make a bridge jump bet.

OSP is live, obv Jon will prbly roll but I differ on shane's take

ML is indicative of a puncher's chance. OSP has a path to victory. This isn't Bader, Chael, or Rashad but more like Glover.

I have more on Jones than I'm comfortable with, just don't see any way he can lose this unless he's just fallen apart mentally

Jones is one of the safest ever at avoiding punchers chance guys

Also put a small bet on Cejudo. He's gotten so much better and a grappler of his caliber at +300 seems worth a swing

Can't imagine it is a Gustaffson type deal either, all reports saying Bones been in the gym going hard.

I mean how does OSP get in and land that shot?

Jones isn't just the P4P GOAT and maybe toughest dude mentally ever but his gameplan is almost always near perfect

I also think Jones wins easily. OSP needs to win with a hailmary early and the only unknown is the layoff for Bones. Fully expect OSP to gas and never do any dmg.

well **** it then

-600 it is

dude has never lost, what could possibly go wrong

and if you believe what's going on with conor might need jones to headline 200 for one of those conspiracy type ways of thinking for tonight
