So I do understand both sides, but fail to grasp the kicks to the head of a downed opponent. Body shots, leg shots I get. But kicking the head while they're down? You like this or not?
The last fight aside for both Condit and Guida, I wouldn't call either of them touch and run guys.

You should have come by the house for ribs and wings and explained it to the group of guys wondering what Condit was doing then. Most of the fans in attendance were booing him soundly too. Then the major MMA reporters carried it along with debating whether he even won enough rds to get a decision. I was surprised by his new "strategy" too. I never would have guessed he would come into the fight with all his pre-fight hype and talk and do what he did either. But I wouldn't want Diaz wearing me down with body shots and his killer-cardio even with his dope smoking, so running was prolly best there.

Nice Hardy gif, that was a great fight by both corners. Exciting to watch. Which was nothing close to the Condit Diaz fight. Doubt you'll ever see Hardy employ that type of fighting style. Which btw gave Hardy a last shot in the UFC instead of being booted to SF.

for such a supposedly bad-ass honorable sport, the quote above is really the ultimate bitch move.

makes me wonder whether the content of jones' character isn't really what's being attacked here, and if it's an mma thing or just a 2p2 thing.

I can totally understand why an older fighter getting perhaps his last title shot like Hendo would want to wait and see if he can recover quickly in time for the fight, but I absolutely think Hendo is more to blame than Jones for UFC 151's cancellation. You simply can't wait until one week before the fight to tell the UFC that you've been injured for the past 2 weeks and won't be able to compete.

FWIW Dan didnt tell anyone because he taped it up and fully intended to fight regardless. Once the UFC found out they made him see their Dr. who said no go. As far as Chael knowing 3 weeks in advance, Dan said he never talked to Chael and wasn't training with him, Chael says the same but its up to you to believe it.

if they are on the same team, then it's complete bull****. these "teams" are groups of guys who train together (partners or mentor-student) and support and promote themselves and each other? (if not always, at least on a regular basis.) how does it work, are they at different weights?

anyone who's been on a team or had a training partner knows damn well that even if henderson didn't tell him directly, word got back to him well in advance of the ****ing announcement.

if my description of the team is accurate, now you're telling me that first they pull a bitch move and then they lie about it.

Kind of, but its kine of like Anderson and Lyoto etc, they don't train in every camp together or live near each other. Chael was not in Hendersons camp at all or his last one. They are friends and under team quest in the past but I don't think they are in each others camp every time. As far as communication I agree Chael would probably know, but both said they didn't, and Dan is pretty solid. Chael on the other hand.... Its also possible Chael found out through mutual freinds, and Dan never told him. The UFC didnt even know until like 10 days out, Dan really was going to fight on the agreed date until they told him no.

There are some camps that are like you describe though, I just dont think Dan and Chael are part of a camp like Team Jackson etc. Team quest is not like it used to be.

fair point, tough to really fault Dan for being an awesome badass then.

I agree it is irresponsible of him, but I can see his logic. I don't blame all the blame on Jon, its just his attitude that rubs me the wrong way more then anything.

What exactly about his attitude rubs you wrong? I'm only asking because IMO, Jones is one of, if not the, most humble fighter in the UFC

Hendo or not, he wasn't cleared to fight at 151 AFAIK. As for knowing three weeks prior, many fighters cover up injuries and don't mention them to keep this information from the other camp.

IMO, JJ would have been better served to take the Chael fight. Reasons being, 1) Chael had recently been beaten twice by Silva, 2) Chael is moving up from 185 3) JJ had a solid injury-free camp, 4) and fighters are always adjusting their strat, inside the cage, in the moment.

Not to mention the PPV numbers would have skyrocketed over a Hendo/Jones fight.

Even in his interview with Ariel Helwani, Jones basically states he needed to "prepare" for Chael and it wasn't enough time. Then later in the interview he states how Chael is a nobody, a joke, and isn't good enough to deserve a fight with him. So which was it? Is he too dangerous to fight on short notice after a full training camp? Or is he a schmuck, not deserving to be in the cage with JJ?

Whether Chael knew of Hendo's injury or not, still doesn't alter the fact Jones could have taken the fight, a fight he no doubt would have won.

Seen as this thread has become the default UFC thread thought id post here.

Other than the main event looking forward to seeing Bispings fight. The guy is really underrated and i thought he won the fight vs Sonnen. A good display could put him close to a title fight.

Jon Jones is a man. It's possible that Vitor broke his arm in round #1 and he still was able to continue and USE the arm and straight up dominate him. 4th round sub was very well executed. Hats off to the guy, can't wait to see him in 8 months when his arm is fully recuperated.

Didn't get the 152 PPV, saw the highlights only, but the flyweights were what I expected. Can't see the interwebz hate for them. Jones v Belfort went as scripted and Bisping is a good solid, blue collar fighter, if he ever attained the belt I doubt he'd defend it too many times.

If Jones keeps using that side kick to the kneecap there's a non-zero chance we'll see a hyper-extension in the near future and that's going to be gross as hell
