Anderson is so unreal. I wish Sonnen didn't try that spinning back fist. I still think Chael would lose, but that move threw away the fight.

Most championship fights aren't thrown away by a single mistake. Can't really say Jds's opponents or gsp's opponents or jon jone's opponents made any real mistake. Just got outclassed.

Chael had a chance before he Derp'd. He threw (not on purpose) that fight.

I think Silva would beat Jones at a catchweight.

Silva has shown the ability to fight any opponent's fight and beat him at it. He's just too fast. He has great takedown defense, is ridiculously accurate with his strikes, and has a strong chin. Even though he has a great chin, you have to wonder if he can handle Jones's power.

silva has to be pretty close to the top greatest athlete

MMA isn't anywhere near big enough to call Silva the greatest athlete, or to even postulate about it

Anderson Silva is the GOAT. It takes a Bonnar or a Forrest to bring it out, but his dodging is just awesome to watch.

Anderson has figured out, that when he's against the cage, you can't take him down. He'll use the cage for balance. And he's a master at clinch and striking even against the fence. I think the key is to just back away from the fence and force him away from the cage.

The counter to his strategy is boring cuz Anderson will go right back to the cage once fighting happens, but at least you'll win on points.

When he's center Octagon, you at least have a chance to take him down. You also have a chance to get ktfo.

Alternatively, Anderson figured out that Bonnar didn't have a hope of knocking him out and so stood there to entertain himself and the crowd.

Jones has a big reach advantage, something like 7". If he can keep Silva on the fence with strikes and avoid getting lured into grappling with Silva while along the fance, it's very possible for him to win it.

Once he gets against Silva up against the fence, he's only going to break out with raw power.

I think his comment about saving the event was a subtle knock on Bonnar rather than Silva giving a **** about UFC.

Forest Griffin seems like such a cool dude. That interview was great.

"What happened? He punched me in the face... repeatedly"

"So I tried to punch him in the face, and he literally moved out of the way and looked at me like I was stupid, just so dumb for trying to punch him, like, what are you doing?"

"I felt like I was a little kid in there trying to wrestle my dad"

-quotes butchered pretty bad

I was actually watching old Anderson Silva fights out of boredom.

It's amazing how easy he makes it look. The fights where he went beyond a round or two was generally him clowning around rather than actually fighting. Then, he'd fight for real and destroy the guy in like 20 seconds.

I have to wonder with Chael in the first fight. Was he ****ing with him and then got caught and had to fight on the defensive? Or is he that good that he chose to take that kind of beating and still won in the end?

He did tell Big Nog before that fight he'd win by sub, so some people think it was his plan

If you had said fighters aren't paid enough I'd agree. Saying it's not popular enough is a pretty lolamerican thing to say. I would guess this ufc was watched by about as many fans as all of this weeks nfl games combined.

Dude the NFL makes more off of their monday night football television contract than all of the other major american sports(nba, mlb, nascar, golf, nhl) combined make off of their total TV contracts.

The NFL is king in America, there is no way MMA is watched more than every game combined.

A little sidenote, once Big Nog was late for a presser in Japan for Pride, so he got lil Nog to fill in and no one noticed.

Which makes me think that it's ridiculous for Dana to think he's gets 100K in Cowboys Stadium.

I'm not a Silva fan by any means and generally pull for the opponent. But I would have to admit, Silva is by far the best fighter in the UFC. He has rolled through about every name in his weight class and a few outside of it with ease (except for the first Sonnen fight ofc). I am a Silva believer now. Bonnar has never been stopped until last night and it was with great ease.

I'd like to see Silva go box as the Diaz boys have done. Could Silva dismantle a top pro boxer in the same weight?

No. Ask Freddy Roach. He could do well though.
