he was a test cricketer in the 80s and he started doing guest appearances on TMS when he was on tour. he got on really well with Jonners and then jumped into a full time role soon after he retired

Surely more heads will roll. Incident happened in 2017 and it was the result of an internal review in 2018 and he was exonerated.

Could this be the reason the CA chairman stepped down? He knew this was about to explode - also wtf happened on that SA tour as that is apparently where Paine was in March 2018 when he sent the texts - one of the most extraordinary tours ever to occur.

I think Smith has done his time and we as a public have forgiven him. He looks like he has learnt his lesson ever since his public apology. I mean we turned a blind eye to Greg Chappell's antics against NZ - why shouldn't Smith get a 2nd chance?

Really? Both he and Chappell's actions were strongly against the spirit of the game but it was purely Greg's decision for Trevor to bowl underarm and everyone in the team could see what was going to happen. The "sand paper" incident was Warner's own doing and sure he told Smith beforehand but that was Warner orchestrating it all and Smith had a moment of weakness in not standing up to it but it wasn't his plan from the outset.

Don't think Smith makes a good captain. He's not a natural leader, he's weak enough to allow all the sandpaper stuff to go on under his watch.
