It'll be good to get this done before tea, no point in prolonging matters.

I rate England's winning chances at 0.0%. An Indian victory easily the most likely result.

In the last 50 years, England has faced 120+ overs just five times to save a Test match.
lol @ anyone including CricViz that suggested England's chances at any point during the innings was as high as 20+%. It's like some people have never watched cricket before and think that 350+ in the 4th innings, or even 290 on the last day warrants a 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 chance. Has history suggested that? No, it hasn't. Maybe, maybe you could stretch it at 0/100 and give England a 10% chance.

This was a better prediction than suggesting England were 20-25% to win.

Root out for 36 and is up to 16th for most Test runs in a calendar year. Just 49 runs in the next Test will move him up to 8th with three Ashes Tests before January 1.

On yeah, match status. England (CRR 2.29) require 175 runs @ 4.6rpo with 38 overs and 2 wickets remaining.

TMS had a stat saying 4th innings average at the oval is highest of any test stadium in the world/2nd highest run rate, which i assumed played a part in the winviz/markt price

It's Tea time. England should be commended for taking it into a final session.

If they were 6 down rather than 8 down, a draw would have still been a possibility.

Test cricket in the last 1-2 hours when fighting for a win or a draw is always compelling viewing.

Think Bairstow is gonna sit the next one out. Buttler is gonna take the gloves back and Pope had a decent game last time.

Heh

Current openers have got two 100+ partnerships out of three innings. Don't think they're going anywhere until after the ashes.

I don't think Bairstow was ever made for test cricket.

Totally agree with the decision though, at a minimum it would be risking the careers of the players.

FFS, although there was going to be too much sport this weekend as it was

I think we should be at a point in team sport where if you don’t play due to covid within your team or squad, you should be heavily fined and given an L

I presume most of the Indian squad are not vaccinated.

As Jonathan Agnew pointed out, this is more about the BCCI protecting their players for the IPL, which starts in 10 days.

We'd be naïve to think that covid won't continue to derail sport for the foreseeable future

Will the Ashes actually go ahead? Was it fake news that up to 10 English players said they would not travel to Australia given that they would have to do at least 14 days of hard hotel quarantine and I imagine WAGs are not allowed to travel.

Yep, I would imagine that facing Jimmy at Old Trafford is no batsman’s dream scenario.

They are all double vaccinated.

All the coaching staff (Shastri and his drinking buddies) caught it, I assume they went to some pub while the team stayed back.

Yes, Ravi Shastri should not be allowed anywhere near the Indian cricket team, ever
