I'm not saying there aren't some similarities but suggesting they're equal threats is moronic.

Yeah, its a pretty bad argument. Criticism of women's attire only takes place after they get raped, nobody really has a problem with it otherwise so it's pretty clear victim blaming. Tons of people had discussed the organizers of this events history of bigotry prior to the shooting (see Wikipedia), of course that will still go on after the shooting. People insisting on some sort of post-shooting-time-period-discussion-decorum heavily undercut the universally agreed upon free speech aspect of the incident.

So the people who hold protests where they walk on the American flag are asking for it if someone shows up and beat down everyone there, right? They aren't accomplishing anything in a polite manner (since they are obviously trying to incite people to commit violence) and it's partially their fault if they get beat down for doing it, right?
