VA GOP doubling down on anti-gay bigotry.

Quote:
The Virginia General Assembly voted against gay prosecutor Tracy Thorne-Begland’s bid to be a district court judge in Richmond early Tuesday.

Earlier this week, Marshall, a Republican who is running for Senate, had threatened to offer an amendment to try to block Thorne-Begland’s nomination if the state General Assembly didn’t vote to reject him, calling the prosecutor an “aggressive activist for the pro-homosexual agenda.”

In his interview with CNN Thursday, Marshall doubled down on his previous remarks, as he accused Thorne-Begland of having displayed a “pattern of behavior” that disqualified him to be a judge.

“I’ve been there 21 years. We’ve never appointed an activist of any kind along these lines, much less somebody who has a long history of this,” the legislator said.

Pressed by CNN’s Brooke Baldwin on how he couldn’t give a gay man a chance to be a judge in an age when black people are not forced to sit in the back of the bus and women can vote, Marshall shot back, “Sodomy is not a civil right.”

“Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks never took an oath of office they broke,” he said. “Sodomy is not a civil right, and there’s an effort by homosexual lobbyists to equate the two. That’s wrong. It is a pattern of behavior.”
Quote:
“You could preside as a district judge for a marriage of two guys if he wanted to, in violation of the law,” Marshall said on CNN’s “Starting Point.” “Moreover, if you have a bar room fight between a homosexual and heterosexual, I’m concerned about possible bias.”

I guess we should outlaw white male judges, because if there's a fight between a man and a woman, or between a white and a black, the male judge will be biased in favor of the man, or the white.

I've always thought of sodomy as a privilege, like driving and borrowing books from the library.

She's also a moron.

Everyone knows sperm can be swallowed. It's the apparatus that delivers the sperm that you can't be.

A better way of snarking the same point is asking him if they could ever appoint a black person as a judge in case there is ever a bar fight between a black person and a white person and if he would be worried the black person would be able to be unbiased.

Then see him squirm.

It is really quite amazing just how much the small government pro freedom Republican party cares about men putting their penises in other men.

I'm mad. It's like the only industry they know is slavery so they keep repackaging it for changing times. So awful.

Format is "[you+tube]" (without the quotes or + sign) then the weird letters in the Share Link link from the Youtube page (usually it's a bunch of random characters like 'xGbeDeujKw' or something) followed by "[/you+tube]" (without the quotes or + sign)

Just saw this today:

Quote:
As police departments around the country are increasingly caught up in tussles with members of the public who record their activities, the U.S. Justice Department has come out with a strong statement supporting the First Amendment right of individuals to record police officers in the public discharge of their duties.

In a surprising letter (.pdf) sent on Monday to attorneys for the Baltimore Police Department, the Justice Department also strongly asserted that officers who seize and destroy such recordings without a warrant or without due process are in strict violation of the individual’s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

Yeah, I saw that. I didn't post about it right away because I didn't believe it. Hopefully it does something.
05-18-2012 , 01:37 PM
Damn feds trampling on local rights.

Inb4 Obama instructs the Justice Department to denounce the letter.
05-18-2012 , 01:54 PM
Did they ever denounce Fast and Furious, or just claim ignorance?

That's a mark in the good column for Holder tho
05-18-2012 , 01:58 PM
They administration has said that the program was flawed and certainly they regret the death of the agent. The R's seem to be pissed at Holder for not being forthcoming. I am kind of perplexed at your + for holder thing though, what did you like about fast and furious?
05-18-2012 , 02:07 PM
Sorry if it wasn't clear.

I meant the letter by the Justice Dept reaffirming that citizens have the right to film LEOs
05-18-2012 , 02:16 PM
^Gotcha, I couldn't figure the politics of the pro fast and furious crowd-Mexican cartels maybe?
On a different subject anybody read "the amateur?"
