Right, we can't get an exact copy of internal deliberations of Penn and Harvard from the 80s and 90s, we can only take 'wild guesses' by looking at their policies that specifically say they take race into account and that Warren was a Native American.
05-16-2012 , 12:59 PM
I hear Scott Brown got AA benefits because his name is "Brown"! I have absolutely zero evidence for this, but if you look at a picture of him he's barely beige! It's absurd!
05-16-2012 , 01:01 PM
Zero evidence doesn't mean what you think it means.

I hear Romney has multiple wives. I infer this because we know he's a mormon.

I'm going to have to ask my mother again about the 1/32 thing because I am whiter than Warren is.
3/4 of the white kids I went to elementary school with were "part Cherokee".

ikes with a ****-ton of pent-up trolling over the break

Hey, I only know one way to respond to some awful trolling about the first woman of color at Harvard Law.

But from what I've gathered, it's not certain that Warren listed NA on her applications.

She didn't list it as an undergrad or to law school. She suddenly appeared as a minority hire when she started at Penn.
05-16-2012 , 02:30 PM
Which, like, totally doesn't prove she put it on her application.
05-16-2012 , 02:41 PM
My great great great great great grandfather was a Creek chief. I know its legit because I've seen the paperwork. I even got a small check when I turned 18 because OF ALL THE LAND THE WHITE MAN STOLE FROM MEH! And I am definitely more opaque than Warren.

I've got a friend who was 1/16th Cherokee, legitimately. He didn't qualify for any assistance because he had to have more bloodline than that. He checked into it on a lark, as he didn't think he would qualify. This is a guy who's parents actually have a framed picture of a full blooded native American ancestor on the mantle.

I have a hard time understanding how being 1/32nd of anything is worth anything, including even being mentioned.

What the hell is going on with this story?

Finally got done changing all important passwords. FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU hacker. However, thanks Wookie for the LastPass rec, I believe this is going to change my life in big ways. Big ways, I tell you!

Yes, only get her actual application will prove it entirely one way or another. Instead the only explanation we've been given is coincidence and something about getting invited to lunches.

Let's take a break from LLLOOOOLLLLLLL IKESTOYSSSSSS to read the latest excellent article about the Tarek Mehanna case (infuriating as always)

I don't know why but I have a guilty pleasure of having these lefty twerps on my feed to see them post comments that beg for 'citation is needed' and see a dozen ******s retweet this stuff like it's Mao's Little Red Book.

I never hear back when ask them to explain how they got to this conclusion.

Race is taken into consideration at just about every major university in hiring and admissions.
You have a cite for this?

Note: That Harvard Law listed Warren as their first female minority professor in the late 1990s is pretty strong evidence that you are wrong.
05-16-2012 , 05:36 PM
It is very possible that Warren never filled out a job application at either Harvard or Penn, by the way. She had to at Texas because that's a state job, but law professors at Ivy League schools are not hired by having the manager go through the list of applications they received.

From Politico,
Quote:
She has pushed back hard on suggestions she got her job based on her heritage, and her backers have noted a 1995 Crimson piece, from the year she was hired, makes no mention of her background.

I MEAN JEEZ HARVARD STOP BRAGGING. FIRST IT WAS THAT PHONE CALL IN 1997 FOR A LAW REVIEW ARTICLE, THEN THERE WAS THAT PHONE CALL IN 1997 FOR A LAW REVIEW ARTICLE. LOL!!!! AFFIRMATIVE ACTION!!!!

Keep f***ing that chicken, dude. Harvard has explicity stated that race wasn't a factor in her employment, she was more than qualified for the position, and if Harvard Law professorships are so heavily race-based, one wonders why she was the first (alleged) minority hire.
