Yessss Fat Country ftw.

Mitrione such a specimen tho, has to be said.

Both were landing some very hard strikes. Difference is dat chin son.

And yeah, meathead didn't look so bad. He should had a different gameplan def, start kicking those chicken legs of Nelson.

Nice hard ****ing uppercut though, have to agree with mo fight came down to who had better chin.

Ok Swiifx continue to fish bet on Mitrione against competent fighters if you like i'll be on the other side collecting money

Obviously yeah this was a tko not ko

Yes, Mitrione's athletic but he has average defense and less power than most HWs plus no ground game

Also dominating is a bit of a stretch, he landed slightly more but big country dragged him into a war of attrition and he doesnt lose competitive wars of attrition because of his chin

Roy's the gatekeeper to the contenders and Mitrione is not a contender and never will be (he could be in 3+ years but he's not even close yet)

Ya Mitrione was winning for a few mins there for sure. He just doesn't have the ability to take punishment, which is so so important for heavyweights, and the main reason Nelson has survived and really, thrived as a gatekeeper. Good power, halfway decent hands and a phenomenal chin is enough in that piece of **** division.

jesus, 5 knockdowns in a round and a KO, wolverine's striking is even better than i remember, and sick thing is he could cut to flyweight easily

i think he'll be a top 10 BW within the year he should have been -300 there not +118

History, wikipedia I guess or articles at any major mma site

Best source of handicapping imo is being an educated fan, I regularly see guys at +180 who should be favs and guys at -150 who should be -300. Other than that talk with winning bettors I guess. ChrisV has a database system that works for him. Personally I bet on observation mostly.

If you want to educate yourself from a betting perspective just watch from UFC 100 or so as all relevant fighters in the UFC (and other orgs) will have several recent fights since then plus I guess you can watch some of the earlier mains and co-mains as well.
Thank you for the comments and for saving me a good deal of time. I may be in here soon offering up some good stuff along with the rest of you.

If you want some particularly amazing cards to watch, today's was really good. You should also watch the main card of UFC 100, 116, 132, idk but if u want ill put together a list or you could just watch them chronologically i guess

If you're watching individual fights, i'd watch Edgar/Maynard 2 and 3, everything of Anderson Silva's, Jon Jones road to the title, Barry/Kongo, a few of Stefan Struve's fights, some of each champion's fights I guess, JDS' road to the title and Brock Lesnar's UFC fights were all fun, Shogun/Henderson, some of Stephan Bonnar's fights, and Griffin/Bonnar 1 among others but that's a good starting point

lol you just made me think about how many hours I've dumped into watching this sport...

the sport can be amazing or seem boring depending on which fights you show someone to start, i think i've recommended a decent package of fights, everyone should add a few to it so the new guy knows what to watch to get hooked

the fights that hooked me were Lesnar/Mir 2 (UFC 100 was the first event I watched in full) and then Bonnar/Krystoff 1 and Wandy/Bisping at 110 (the first event i watched live) then by 116 (the second event I watched live) the whole main card was beyond epic (Lesnar/Carwin, Akiyama/Leben and Bonnar/Krystoff 2 among others) and I haven't missed a card since (or watched it immediately as soon as I could if I couldn't see it in real time)

First UFC ME I can remember watching is Jackson vs Liddell. That's when I started watching on a semi-regular basis, and gradually immersed myself into it more and more through watching youtube, reading Sherdog, etc.

It was a lot easier to educate yourself on the classics when all the Pride fights were on youtube.

can still find all of them with some googling

also, Sarafian vs Dollaway is on the bisping belfort card, if the odds open where I expect (Sarafian -200 or so) i'm going to be 10+ units. If Sarafians a dog i'll bet close to my whole sportsbetting roll.

I could be wrong and he could open as a huge fav (as he should, i'd cap it at Sarafian -450)

Sarafian is an amazing MW and would have won the show if he didnt get hurt for anyone who didnt see TUF Brazil and Dollaway will be overrated after his Miller win. Sarafian will finish him within two rounds and probably in the first. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sarafian as a top 10 MW in the world within a year. Dollaway struggled to put a one-legged miller away after the injury. It won't be close.

I really like all 5 brazilians fighting non brazilians on the undercard fwiw on that card plus sarafian on the main

I recommend all Anderson silva fights, first event I watched was him vs rich Franklin 1, watching him in the octagon is something else.

Also forest griffin/Stephan Bonnar 1 is a much watch.

Can't thank you enough for your advice. I'm a bit ambitious, so I'm looking for a list of all active UFC fighters - is there a source for this? I'd like to just go through and watch everything from every active fighter. I'm looking to get a feel for the sport, because it's beginning to look like it's going to be around as long as boxing has been. That and I love sports gambling. I might just watch everything chronologically and take notes on each fighter as I go.

That's gonna take forever and a day.

Just buy a monthly pass to the UFC's vault or whatever and you can watch every fight in good definition for a reasonable price I think. UFC website should have a list of all the fighters.

Looking ahead to 155...

At first glance Jim Miller, Michael Johnson, Todd Duffee and...Leonard Garcia (dare I say it?) jump out at me at first glance. I expect all will be decent sized favorites but I'm pretty confident they will all win so we'll see what the prices look like.

Just got home excellent card! The joint was a great venue I prefer it to the MGM

In terms of best fights to introduce people to the sport I use Huerta vs Guida shows striking, subs and heart from both fighters.
