Yeah my grammar/spelling sucks so what. I have actually never ventured into this thread. Because I know my grammar sucks.

I know I violate many of the rules of English grammar.

But I will take notice of my violations and try to correct them in the future.

In the strat threads your reading they aren't often mentioning SPR but they are in fact practicing it, if your live threads mention the texture of the table and your thread is filled with good insight into the players your more likely to get great answers in the strat forums - both live and online.

In the strat forums if you posted a thread like this discussing online play it would be laughed at or ignored as well because it elicits a beginner level discussion of concepts, not because its a live topic. Your discussion makes it seem like your bothered that you got callers, I would LOVE 5 callers in this situation! What did you expect your opponents to do, fold pre-flop so you can win the blinds?

2) In multi-way pots, which also happen online I should add (less frequently but these situations are discussed in the strat forums), if your putting in $$$$ post flop OOP unimproved with QQ then your could be making a mistake. You might be overvaluing top pair and undervaluing hands that play well multi-way or in position, rather than thinking of your hand, think about whats going on in your opponents heads, what hands they derive value from here.

it would be bad advice online as well. good players learn that they must adjust to situations, if your getting into multi-way pots then online players know they have to adjust their bet sizing to optimize SPRs, live players who do the same get the most out of their results.

you're wrong. american usage almost always puts commas and periods inside the quotation. exceptions are made if the comma or period would cause confusion (such as quoting a url), or when a parenthetical reference immediately follows; phb's use falls under neither category.

Look that up on Google did you? Many writers don't follow that stupid rule that has been taught in grade school. It's like the obsolete rule for not beginning sentences with conjunctions (which some teachers still teach). Good writers tend to do what makes sense and avoids confusion.

I'd go with Spadebidder's take.

Putting it inside the quote is both illogical and ******ed.

Also, why would anyone take lessons from someone with so little literacy that they cannot even use the correct capitalisation?

I think that rule is taught to younger pupils to avoid the simple mistakes that children often make when learning English.

e.g. "John went to school. And met Jason".

Those who do not progress beyond basic English often, mistakenly, think the rule applies in all circumstances.

For some reason, they added an apostrophe to RV. Even though this is short for recreational vehicles, it should still read RVs, right?
I would use RV's because V's is a shortened form of Vehicles.

You're wrong. Since you don't write RV', then you can't write RV's. Yes, you're contracting letters in "vehicle," but you're forming a new word: RV. No RV', so why add the apostrophe just because you're making it plural? Hint: because plural words don't need apostrophes. Same with DVD. DVDs is correct. CDs is correct. DVD's is wrong, and so is RV's.

I'm really not going to take lessons from someone who cannot even use basic capitalisation.

If you believe there's a logical reason for it then state that reason rather than just making a bald assertion which, by the way, puts you in exactly the same position as myself.

An interesting take but completely wrong.

The reason that you can put an apostrophe between the 'V' and the ''s' is that it is a contraction of one word.

Common practice is that you can form an abbreviation by using initial letters without (as was once considered necessary) placing a full stop after each letter. But that uses the initial of each word. When you pluralise the abbreviation the 's' is part of the final word and this fact can be indicated by the use of an apostrophe.

From above ^

When it comes to commas and periods, though, logic doesn't enter into the equation, at least not in the United States. Universal American usage places commas and periods inside the quotation marks, regardless of logic.

~"Diane," she said, "put the book down and go outside for a little while."

~"I will in a minute," she replied, "as soon as I finish this chapter."

This rule applies even when the unit enclosed at the end of the sentence is just a single word rather than an actual quotation:

~To get to the next page, just press the little button marked "Enter."

The only exception is when that last little item enclosed in quotation marks is just a letter or a number, in which case the period or comma will go outside the closing quotation marks:

~The buried treasure was marked on the map with a large "X".

~The only grade that will satisfy her is an "A".

~On this scale, the highest ranking is a "1", not a "10".

There you go.

Clue: The USA is not the only country in the world.

American English may use this weird and completely illogical (your quote admits it has nothing to do with logic in the US - whereas other English speaking people do use a logical system) rule but plain English does not.
