He's referring to the origin of the negativity, not the origin of dids.

does that make sense. i suck at teh grammars. but he used a metaphor. In other words, guy = huge raging ball of negativity. when refering to a person you say "who's" (whose?)

hmm, I missed that part, I thought he said dids HAS a huge ball of negativity. Upon a correct reading, it should be "whose"

This disqualifies you from the thread, sir.

If we're going to be nits, let's go all the way. There should be a semicolon after 'insult'. And of course, "you're" in place of "your".

I truly pity you, and I'm not saying that as a real insult. I really do feel sorry for you, if your life is really as miserable as I envision. If it's not, then you're just a huge raging ball of negativity whose origin is a mystery.

Either way, I really don't think I have any use for you, and I really, REALLY don't enjoy your posts. I'm sure you care deeply.

See, I would go for "a huge raging ball of negativity, the origin of which is a mystery." Don't really like using "whose" there.

This isn't quite perfect for this thread, but I saw a license-plate frame that said "SWIMMER'S" on the top and "CAR POOL" on the bottom. It's obviously a pun that works better out loud than written because one doesn't pronounce apostrophes, but they went with the apostrophe option that makes the least sense of the three.

I think thats O'kay, if hes just referring to his self. Hes one swimmer; Its a car pool being posessed by a singular swimmer.

Right. It could make sense, it's just the option least likely to be correct.

PMO Iqaluit bumble draws smiles, frowns

Quote:
A bumble by the Prime Minister's Office has residents of Nunavut alternately chuckling and cringing.
Quote:
The release repeatedly spelled the capital of Nunavut as Iqualuit - rather than Iqaluit, which means "many fish" in the Inuktitut language.

The extra "u" makes a big difference.

"It means people with unwiped bums," said Sandra Inutiq of the office of the Languages Commissioner of Nunavut.

"It's not exactly a nice term."

IMO if your language includes a word for 'people with unwiped bums', it reflects poorly on your heritage.

"I'm going to try and get this paper done."

I never understood "try and"

Well they have a thousand words for "snow" so it's obviously a very thorough language...

it's one of those things that looks ******ed on paper but if someone said it you wouldn't correct them. at least, i wouldn't. it makes sentences flow better.

No, it's not. That's why "gullible" isn't in their dictionary. They had to leave some words out because "snow" took so much room.

They do have very nice dictionaries. The covers are made of Minke while the pages are made of Kodiak.

At the poker table earlier this week, guy was going on about how there's no second "r" in sherbet, even though its usually pronounced shur-burt. I bet him "sherbert" was an acceptable alternative spelling. Whipped out the iPhone, looked it up, won $10.

I totally agree with this thread. I'm from Norway and I believe I spell English better then Norwegian, that's why it tilts me so ****ing hard to see native English/American speakers miss use the your/you're and also the "u" instead of "you" among other things.

Good gambling, sir, but "whether or not X is in the dictionary" is a very bad way to determine whether X is or is not ******ed. Dictionaries include a lot of dumb words and leave out a lot of good ones.
