San Diego Chargers and Tom Telesco are either Genius or a Morons. Maybe he sees something I nor any intelligent person could see. We passed on arguably the second best player in the draft. When the top 3 OT's went off we needed best available. Can't believe we passed on #SharrifFloyd #StarLotulelei #SheldonRichardson all of whom when paired up with #CoreyLiuget #MelvinIngram would have been a nasty combo for years to come. Also could have taken #XavierRhodes to pair up with #DerekCox giving us two big quick CBs's. We could have easily traded down and gotten #Fluker a couple of picks later. Wasted value. I still like the pick but it doesn't quite make sense. We already have #Clary over there so either he is gonna back him up or replace him. We really needed help on the left blind side as #KingDunlap will not get the job done. I'm alright with the #Teo pick as I think we will develop into a strong tough skilled NFL player and will fit in nice with #DonaldButler at ILB. Overall just pissed about how they wasted the value of our first pick. Telesco better have some massive plan he is scheming or we are doomed. #NoCrop #chargers #sd #nfl #nfldraft #sandiego #bolts #football
Death.

25 years ago the literacy rate amoung <20-year-old Americans was much higher than it is today. Today our schools graduate swarms of kids who can't write, spell, or even read well. Can you say Teacher's Unions?

From OOT thread title:

"If me and my wife will make 200k year how much would our net income be after taxes..."

Apparently it is possible to make $200k/yr in a household without knowledge of basic grammar. Maybe the wife makes $160k?

Even if we're not considering all the non-intelligent people who make lots of $, this shouldn't really be surprising. Plenty of intelligent people aren't good at grammar and/or aren't precise with it.

If you're going nit up the grammar nit thread, at least be correct.

The first word after an ellipsis is capitalized if it begins a new grammatical sentence.¹

looks like a grammar autocorrect kind of thing...it saw "your My" and freaked out, even de-capitalizing it.

they mean giving them your player's card so they can rate you when you sit down at a blackjack table

So it should be "open table"? If so, "insert" isn't right either. There is more wrong with those instructions than autocorrect can explain.

My only problem was the obvious...not sure why Обезьянка doesn't like 'insert'; after all you have to insert your card into the slot machine.

Grammar Mistakes In The Wild usually aren't my thing, but I found this...

Kudos to that student! I wish more kid's these days would take a stand against the "establishment" and make themselves heard. It's so refreshing to see a student actually care about his education and his country. The "60s'" was a time for rebellion against the "MAN" then, and now it's way over due to rebel against the new present "MAN" to get this country back as it once was...The Great United States of America! HEY! Next up and coming generation...make the Change!!!!
...specifically the treatment of '60s, kind of amusing.

Pretty good for a YouTube comment, though.

edit: Credit goes to CHRONICFEVER and Dids for linking the vid and pointing out the comment, respectively.

I always thought I was a good writer until I read this thread and realised that I've probably never written a grammatically correct paragraph in my life.

So there's this software called iLivid. I suppose they were going for live-video or something, but it's i-livid to me. Which is what it'll make you if you download it (comes with a searchbar called searchnu that will screw everything up).

Need some bit advice.

Typing out the data in word format for wedding invites, and I'm wondering if we should do "two thousand thirteen" or "two thousand and thirteen"?

I'd search this thread for an answer, but searching for the word "and" might not be terribly useful.

Both are equally correct, go with your preference. I think using "and" is a bit more formal.

In American usage, "and" should not be used except in front of a fraction.
