NATSI'S
I am pretty sure it's a rope burn and another reference QT is making too The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Anyway, I thought the movie was terrific.

I saw it in Harvard Sq. The M******* Bear Jew and the Jew Hunter wanting land on Nantucket (oh and would he ever fit in) got monster laughs.

Congratulations to Brad Pitt. I've left a lot of movies going, "That movie was pretty good and, hey, Brad Pitt was there" and this time it was "Brad Pitt was exceptionally good and really made the movie better."

Two minor quibbles:
- I saw the King Kong/Negro thing coming from way too far away. D+ for Quentin; C+/B- for anyone else. You're better than that.
- The trailer gave away Pitt (horribly standing out in a tux) and Novak obviously tied up and captured. Is there really a need to reveal something like that for a Tarantino movie? I would have preferred not waiting for them to get captured for like 15 minutes. That mildly detracted from the experience.

The Jew Hunter belongs alongside Hans Gruber, Anton Chigurh, Hannibal Lector, Buffalo Bill, Nurse Ratched, and co. He just kept getting better.

Meh...def. don't feel the love for this movie like most in this thread.
Was hoping to be amazed after reading all the raves in the thread but left underwhelmed. Def. didn't have my mind blown like I have prior in QT films.

For a 2 1/2 movie def. didn't feel as long when I was watching it, though many scenes dragged...but left feeling like I watched a bunch of really great scenes rather than a really great film. Enjoyable but nothing I'd love to see again and again.

Fav characters were def. Landa, the german officer who knew who he was going to die,
Stiglitz. Jew Hunter was a nice gimmick of a character, comparing him and the acting job of Roth to Hopkins, Bardem, Rickman etc is lol. Pitt was very good.

1. Pulp Fiction / Kill Bill v. 1
2. Jackie Brown

3. Res. Dogs
4. Kill Bill v. 2
5. IB

6. Grindhouse

The SS officer who figured him out, it seems like he would have been smart to just pretend to think they were legit, then go get some help and blow them all away when they leave or something. Or just let them know that the actress was in on something, and just watch her. Of course, this would have made the movie suck.

Haven't seen IB, but the rest of the list does seem out of order..

1. Pulp Fiction
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. Kill Bill v2
4. Kill Bill v1
5. Grindhouse
6. Jackie Brown

Grindhouse better than Jackie Brown...wow.
I thought TSC was out there when he talked about Aliens sucking but that is just mind blowing.

But I guess to each his own

Really impressed with this, especially considering I read this whole thread before seeing it. Tarantino is the. absolute. ****ing. MASTER. of having a scene begin with 25 minutes of banter and build-up before unleashing a monstrous punchline on the audience.

He kept up an insane amount of tension throughout this movie, especially when you consider that it's pure fantasy.

It was a pretty bad movie. I didn't like Grindhouse either, so I'm just using gut reactions for which I disliked more. Neither DVD can be found in my home.

When you guys say Grindhouse, do you really mean Death Proof?

FWIW I'd rank them:
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. IB
4. Kill Bill V1
5. Kill Bill V2
6. Death Proof

I'd rank Jackie Brown, however I have only see it once and I don't recall much from it other than not really liking it at the time. My opinion could change with another viewing though.

Also, kudos to QT for having the balls to go with so many subtitles. Obviously worked much better this way, but it takes some guts to do that in America.

Good point. Who else but Quentin could win the box office with a film in four languages?

So true. There's really never been anyone else (other than Kubrick...maybe?) who can make a 20-minute dialogue scene absolutely mesmerizing the entire time. And he does this 3 or 4 times in IB.

And as long as everyone else is ranking QT's films, here's my list:

1) Pulp Fiction
2) KB vol. 1
3) Reservoir Dogs
4) Inglourious Basterds
5) KB vol. 2
6) Jackie Brown
7) Death Proof

As I was telling someone the other night, when Death Proof is by far the worst movie you've ever made...you're pretty ****ing good.

Any chance that girl that played Shoshana (Mélanie Laurent) can cross over to American films? I thought she was fantastic and looked great. Kinda seems like a French version of Zooey DeChannel, but maybe I think that just because of the eyes.

She reminded me of the actress in In Bruge interms of looks/style.
