Spoiler:
I agree with this. I thought he also made mention that implied this train of thought when he was complaining about his nickname, "the jew hunter"

pretty surprised everyone liked this movie as much as they did.
it was very entertaining. the "jew-hunter" was an incredible performance.
thought it lagged quite a bit in the middle. the scene in the bar was waaay too long.

i thought this story was going to be about the basterds killing nazis. didnt really like the that it was such a small part of the film.

thought this was tied with jackie brown for the worst of his movies, although it was a pretty good movie.

awesome movie.

Some weak parts of the movie I thought was

Spoiler:
Wish Eli Roth had less screentime. Really didn't like him but this might be a personal bias. Michael Myers was not great but tolerable, but maybe his casting was intentional as a commentary on Americans playing Europeans.

Thought Landa would have been too smart to fall in to that situation in the end but perhaps because he is one who lives by a set of rules and mistakenly presumed Aldo did the same.

I still loved this movie because Tarantino puts so much subtext and meaning in to such a fun package.

I loved the

Spoiler:
scene with Landa at the beginning where they switch to English to smoothly remove the need for subtitles and just when you thought that was the end of it, it has a deeper layer in which its revealed that Landa planned the switch to English all along in order to facillitate the collaboration of the French Farmer.

Also loved the mirror of Hitler laughing at the propaganda film of Zoller shooting allied soldiers followed by the climax in which the audience cheers and laughs at the killing of Germans by the Basterds. Its also no coincidence that some of the German characters in this film are more deeply characterized and humanized than the Basterd members who are pretty much threadbare caricatures. Its a subtle jab/critique of past war films. Yet, Tarantino by the inclusion of the Shoshanna storyline makes it clear that he is not advocating some kind of moral relativism.

First of all, I loved the movie. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Im a fan of Tarrantino and if you are a fan of some of his subtleties that occur in all of his movies. Disscussion topic is in spoiler below. <------ Note, I said "subtleties, not subtitles"

Spoiler:
1.I noticed this right off the bat and I liked it where in Chap. 1 when the farmer was outside. He sees the Nazis coming, and he tells the daughters to go inside the house. Landa speaks to the farmer while outside then asks to go inside the house and while inside the house Landa then requests the daughters to go outside, he then calls the soilders and then asks them to come inside the house then soshanna runs outside escaping. The ol repeated "in out, in out." After I think about it was ingenious and an obv. deliberate subtlety that he threw in purposely.

2. Another thing, he has shown to have matured as a fimmaker he used more of an Alfred Hitchcock style, to create an aura of suspense in simple scenes such as -two people talking at a table.... throughout the entire film.

3. He used all his classic Tarrantinoesque methods in this one.

He always has a scene shot like it coming from a car trunk in all his movies...somehow I missed this but i heard his patented "car trunk shot" was in scene 2.

His obsession with womens feet...He always has a foot fetish shot or scene in most all of his movies...Act 5 Bridget and Landa in theatre.

Every Tarrantino movie he has a table talk scene where characters are sitting across from a table with interesting dialouge..Many of these scenes in this film where characters are sitting across from table conversing.

He always has a "Mexican Standoff Scene in all his movies" - The Bar scene - This IMO was undoubtebly his BEST Mexican Standoff scene in any of his movies. - He actually had 2 of them within in 5 minutes

One of the bad guys always gets away all of his movies as Illustrated by Landa in this movie.

Basically all of the Tarrantino pattented quirks were in this movie.

Overall, really enjoyed this, but not nearly as much as Pulp Fiction. Rate it a bit higher than Jackie Brown.

I thought it was pretty clear and repeated twice - She inherited it from her aunt.

Hmmm this isn't going to cut it. We need you to say you hated it and we are all idiots because if the worst thing anyone says about a movie in OOT is that it was "pretty good" the entire universe may implode.

Pulp Fiction >> Inglorious Basterds> Reservoir Dogs = Kill Bill >>Jackie Brown >>>>Grindhouse

Not sure if I am happy with those rankings, but they will do for now. I liked Jackie Brown a lot fwiw, so that might be one too many >'s.

Depending on how Basterds holds up on second viewing it could move closer to Pulp Fiction and further in front of RD and Kill Bill. I feel pretty sure that Inglorious Basterds is his second best film though.

Emmanuelle Mimieux inherited it from her aunt, but Shoshanna is not Emmanuelle Mimieux. Somehow Shoshanna took her place.

I really loved some of the little touches in the film.

Spoiler:
For example, the Pitt character has an obvious rope burn on his neck and was probably lynched at some point, but it is never mentioned and is just treated as background.

Saw this movie last night and absolutely loved it. I wasnt excatly sure why I enjoyed it so much but after sleeping on it and readint through this I understand more of why I do. I have never been a huge QT fan, even though i do not hate him by any means and have watched almost all of his films except Jackie Brown and KIll Bill. Agreeing with most of you fans of his work, this movie HAS to be one of his greatest works.

If the entire movie was just the bastards walking around France/Germany killing randoms, it would have been stupid.

I noticed this too, you say its a rope burn, I was wondering if he had his throat cut at one point. Regardless, every time I saw it I was wondering what caused it.
