and what about the literally millions of people who couldn't afford to be locked up for 6 weeks? How were they gunna pay their rent or feed their kids? The reason that worked in other countries is because they got paid a big percentage of their wages to stay at home and didn't have to pay rent.

Sure, in some alternate reality where people could have stayed locked up for 6 weeks, the virus might not have taken a real hold, but if we are going to have fantasy what ifs we might as well just have one where we invented a cure in march, or where there was a Carington level solar flare that knocked out the worlds electronics and we discovered that the virus was caused by 5G and without it it quickly vanished.

They just had a segment on the news last night that showed Vegas bartenders serving drinks while wearing masks. The segment was explaining how more than 1,000 casino workers from Wynn, Encore, and Venetian, have tested positive.

That might have something to do with it too.

Bars in Vegas closed more than two months ago based on a surge in cases when the casinos first opened. Almost all the cases you are hearing about in those casinos were from July & August.

Over the past six weeks, I believe cases in Vegas have declined about 70%.
As a result of that, bars are reopening on Monday.

However, cases have increased slightly this past week.
This can’t be because bars were open, because they haven’t reopened yet.

Conclusion: The spread of Covid has nothing to do with Vegas opening up some, or thousands of casino workers, or tourists, because the bars aren't open.

Covid did spread when the casinos opened up. But that was back in June/July and infections dropped dramatically in August and early September. I thought the comment was related to the fact that cases have edged back up in the last few days.

If Ray was actually referring to cases increasing in June/July, then you’re right, but that doesn’t seem that relevant now that they’ve dropped so far down again.

So how do we think this affects the election? I see two scenarios:

1) Trump has no symptoms and none of his circle get sick enough to be hospitalized. He uses that to fuel his "Covid is no big deal" message.

2) Someone in the circle gets sick enough that it discredits his message.
2A) That someone is Trump, and he can't even campaign.

I don't think Trump has the virus. This is all a big ruse. Then again I don't believe anything that dude says.

2B) Trump dies, and Pence becomes the candidate.

that's not automatic. The Republican National Committee would have to pick the new candidate. Not sure who else they might pick, but it's possible it could be someone else.

3) Whatever actually happens will have no bearing on the popular narrative about how sick he and the others really are (unless someone dies).

Holy ****, covid delaying the SC appointment is true justice. Not that I think they'll allow that to happen. It would be awesome though.

The ballots have already been printed and a lot of people have already voted. How are they going to add someone to the ballot this late in the game? I think if Trump dies, Biden will essentially be running unopposed or vs. a massive write-in campaign.

Remember, it's the lol electors, not the public, who actually elect the president in lolUSA.

If I understand the article I read, what probably would happen is that the electors would vote for the candidate of the party of the expired.

There were some other considerations; in some states, the electors are legally bound to vote for the candidate which won their state, so there's some murkiness.
