The guy on the other side of the girl looks like John Cleese.

Seems to be a random, or maybe John Cleese's wife.

Finally watched Jojo Rabbit. What an excellent film! Can’t recommend it enough.

2019 really was a great year for movies. 3 all timers imo. Jojo Rabbit, Parasite, and Once upon a time in Hollywood.

to demonstrate i don't have an inherent bias towards turkey masquerading as other meats, we always have a pack of this stuff in the house. yes, it's what we wrap the dog's pills in, but it's also pretty damn good on a pizza, sandwich, or salad.

Really? I'm on for 2 minutes (no hyphen) and I see thisshit?

Turkey hotdogs are like tofu burgers. Is there really a point? You might as well put ketchup on a Chicago dog, dumbass. Nobody eats thatshit.

Whoever gets pretentious about a ****ing hot dog is friends with RG

I thought it was the weirdest combination ever the first time my wife suggested it many years ago. But something about the garlicky alfredo sauce mixed with the sweetness of the teriyaki hits just right. Now it's one of my favorite quick meals.

Wife makes the alfredo from scratch and I grilled the chicken after marinating in Soy Vay teriyaki. Glazed with a Trader Joe's "hoisin teriyaki" at the very end and topped with black sesame seeds.
For some reason it seems like we always end up having asiago broc with it, but that isn't really on purpose.

Definitely not traditional but give it a try!

Also linguine > fettuccine > spaghetti >>>> angel hair

Upgraded the pplates again out of respect for bighurt

Would eat the food, saucy noodles on paper plate is wholly unacceptable.

The Howard/Tuma bet is the only thing that makes me excited about the Polk/Negreanu challenge.

Howard/Tuma MMA challenge would probably be more fun though

I think Tuma is 20 years younger than i am, or more, and I boxed exactly once in my life against the son of a former NBA player. He was far more athletic than I was or am and I got the **** kicked out of me. I must admit that boxing is kind of fun, though -- i did manage to hit him in the face a couple of times.

I'm trying to figure out if this is just a local phenomenon or if it reaches farther than that.

In October 2019 a local dog went missing. There were signs everywhere, a 6k reward, walk/runs to raise money, etc.

The kicker was that the family and the community were pretty clear that the dog had been taken/stolen. Oftentimes directly telling the thieves to return the dog and they wouldn't press charges.

We live in a beach town and get a lot of visitors from larger cities 2-5 hours away. Many fingers were pointed at out-of-towners.

People still talk about that dog and you can still find old "Missing" posters around town.

Then it happened again about 3 months ago. Another dog snatching. Same story, big reward, events, etc. No witnesses.

In neither case have I seen any evidence of either of these dogs being stolen. The owners even say that they didn't see anyone take the dog. There are a thousand things that could happen to a dog around here and getting snatched up by crazy beachgoers just seems like such a stretch.

Btw, these are just NORMAL ASS dogs. I'm talking about a yellow lab and a terrier. A YELLOW LAB for chrissakes. Now every time someone sees a yellow lab they think it's the missing dog. Just terrible neighborhood facebooking going on.

So are people just straight up going on vacation and snatching dogs? Is that a thing that we now have to think about?

Are these owners just letting their dogs run free?
08-26-2020 , 11:16 PM
nobody owns cats

In the first case the dog was in the yard, the homeowners were inside and the dog ran away/got snatched.

Apparently the second dog simply opened the door, walked out and got snatched.

The second people hired a professional "dog tracker".

Just to be clear, I like dogs (my cat is cooler but whatever) and hope these dogs are found and returned home.

It just seems like such a leap to make that someone stole your dog.

Seems like a stretch. Responsible owners would have had their dogs chipped and wearing collars with tags. If they didn't go to that much trouble, I wouldn't put much faith in their conspiracy theories.

I'm not overly familiar with labs or most terriers, but our dogs are very prey driven. When they have gotten loose (don't worry; my wife was not killed during or after the recovery), they have chased the first thing that flashed in front of them. Fortunately for us that happened to be our outside cats (that stay very close to home) rather than squirrels or deer. Had they locked onto a deer they would probably still be running.

If I were you, I would be sure my dog was chipped, have a collar with a tag on him, and take measures to ensure that he remains on your property. I don't doubt there may be dogs being snatched occasionally, but I would think that those fancy big city dwellers would have more opportunities at home rather than taking home a dog as a souvenir of their trip to the beach.
