Well friends and I call it this because of the game "Ocean Card Holdém" which is hold'em with 6 cards. I would not call it the ocean on other games that has 6th streets though.

i always thought it was a tongue-in-cheek nickname for a fictional 6th card in hold'em

i remember a TV poker commentator (prob norman chad on an old WSOP) joking that a player who just c/c river was 'maybe planning to c/r the ocean'

Does anyone ever worry if Carbon Poker is legit? Its servers are regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. This is the same tribe that regulated Ultimate Bet. I believe there was a scandal at Ultimate Bet where the employees could see players hole cards.

I'm not a great poker player, though I do make a little extra money every month. I have never won money on Carbon Poker. I don't have any hard statistics, but it doesn't feel right when I play there. This weekend I got booted out of five tournaments in a row loosing to AA in all five tournaments.

Ok, so online poker isn't rigged. I'll try not to think about the seventh graders that know how to hack into the Pentagon while I play.

Another dumb question. If online poker is legit what percentage of tournaments would I win and/or get in the money if I was a good poker player and ready to move up to the next level? Thanks In Advance

You're actually asking about ROI but your question is stll unanswerable as it will vary greatly depending on stake/format/size.

Stick to the lowest stake available until you're beating it consistently.

Hi, I'm new here and in English-language community.
I want to ask about individual poker blogs (not celebrity ones). Any of them supported here or may be you can advise what's the most popular resource 2+2 members use themselves?
I'm going to migrate my old MTT blog from Russian to English and looking for a new place to settle.

What blog you read depends on what games you play. Epitomised, Verneeer, Jared Tendler and Buffyslayer1 are the first names that come to my my mind.

Sorry, I wasn't clear about my point. I don't need a blog to read, I'd like to have my own one. I've got some original MTT related content to share. I wonder what are popular options in English-language community to host personal poker blogs.

Eh not sure about what's best - I think tumblr is very popular right now for blogs though.

I'm not sure (can you give an example), but 'Ax' for instance is 'an ace and another card, the rank of which does not matter (for instance, it isn't a high card, probably not an overcard and is not paired to a community card)'.

X is check, as opposed to C for call. So 'x/c' means 'check-call'.

Hello, I'm getting back into poker after a few years of slacking and playing random games all over the place. Is NLHE 6max where it's at these days? I want to play whatever's got the most longevity and the biggest player pool. I played LHE before I quit and after black friday it's kind of died off a lot. I have some PLO experience as well. So what game would be the best to invest my time into learning?

Biggest player pool is definitely NLHE 6max. PLO might be more profitable though if you're equally good at the two.

Does anybody have a good web site to view to get a list of tournaments coming up at brick and mortar casinos. Mostly I'm interested in multi-table events with buy-ins of $300 to $600 dollars in casinos on the East Coast but I am curious about other venues as well. I've tried cardplayer.com, pokerlistings.com and pokerpages.com and they seem to be not very comprehensive.

Thanks for your answer. I think that while PLO might be more profitable at the same stakes, given the same bankroll I'd probably have to play lower due to the variance. I prefer NLHE to PLO though and I'm a lot better at it so my choice seems pretty easy when it comes down to it.
