Ooh snapz!

Had my worst losing day ever yesterday, at least half of which was my own fault. Proceeded to go play push/fold tables and sucked at that too!

Need to dig out TMGoP again methinks

I can remember when going to the movies meant getting to see a double feature, plus cartoons and/or movie shorts in between the 2 features.

All for less than $1.00 US!

Anyone else here remember when former NYC Mayor Ed Koch led a protest against the price of movie tickets going tup to $7.00? Back in 1987, I think.

Best thing ever for me was being in Lolmerica in 2000 and going to a drive-in movie.

Uncomfortable, bad view, but just like the good 'ole days!

There was a $1 movie theater where I grew up back in the good ol 80s.

The "expensive" movie theater across town was $5.50

Movies would open there, stay there for 2-3 months then wash down to the $1 movie theater. Back then, hollywood only made a 200 movies per year.

Nowadays, hollywood cranks out so many movies...

Doing some quick google fu.

Back in 1985, US released around 199 movies to the Box Office

In 2012, US released 1415 movies to the Box Office

Not really hard at all, actually. Tie the reigns to a hitching post and hand on oat bag on the horse.

No parking meters, either!

Yikes, but that's a lot of movies! I wonder how that can be economically viable, really. Must be, I guess, somehow.

If you noticed, HOllywood changed the formula. Back in the day, movies would sit in the theater for months or even almost a full year . Nowadays, movies wash through the theater within a month and then go to Netflix, Redbox, DVDs.

They figured out that 90% of the Box Office money comes within the first month of a movie release. So they crank out the movies, build up the release dates, squeeze out as much profit as possible in the first few weeks, then drop the film and move on to the next release.

ON the flip side, hollywood studios do lose a lot more money. When something flops, it flops hard. Plus the public only goes to the movies so much. Its not like we go to the movies ten times as much as we did back in the day. If anything, we go to the movies less now than we did ten or twenty years ago.

Whatever we're stacking will of course be stacked by and with well stacked ladies.

Your stacks in my stacking empire will be secure. The stackees and stackers will be rigorously background chacked.
