CU Bank says international checks take 6-8 weeks to process. That is alot of wait time. Any suggestions for a quicker method to have checks clear immediate?

Any help would be great...
Thanks ~
I'd of probably ate the fee and had them send me a bankwire for a lot of it cause if your doing more then 1 check a month they are charging for additional anyways so why not just do a wire?

OK, got a query:

Just got my tracking number. It will be delivered via DHL. The packet just got picked up from way out EAST. How long does it take to get to the middle USA?

Almost all of my previous payouts came from up North. Haven't had any problems. Have you folks successfully (ie: no bouncing) deposited checks from the East?

Wow. Got my tracking number. Two days ago (Tuesday) it got picked up abroad (East).

At 5:00 AM today it departed from an adjacent State here in middle-America!

DHL doesn't indicate when it will arrive, but I suspect it will be here late today or for sure by tomorrow!

Give us a trip report of you opening the door, signing for the package, opening the package, signing the back of the check, and bringing the check to your bank. ty in advance.

I was at work. I went in my office, took off my coat, turned on my computer, and went to work. My wife was home. It was 10:53. Or maybe 11:53. Or was it 11:54. The doorbell rang. She looked out. It was a truck. It was a medium-sized truck. It was a DHL truck. She answered the doorbell. She used her left hand to accept the envelope. She had a book in her right hand. I came home. I parked the car very carefully because I have some assorted items in the garage. I put the key into the door.I turned the key. The door unlocked. I had dinner. The toast and sardine in olive oil were very good. After eating I washed my hands and put the dishes into the dishwasher.

I then opened the package. The check came with a note saying I could not cash the check but had to deposit it. The check is from The East.

I am now about to head to my CU to deposit my check.

More...later...NOT!

Personally, I use Chase and they handled my Canadian check in 1 business day. People report the same results from different national banks frequently, so just choose a national bank closest to your house.

Be careful, I personally have had a check go through international collections for 3+ months, and the standard is 2-4 weeks. Ask the teller specifically if the check will have to go thru IC or if they can cash it. If not, I recommend going to a large national bank and depositing there.

also,If your bank used the term "credited" that you are def getting it before they actually get the funds so at that point anything can still happen....
i was a bit skeptical of them using the term "credited" also, so i made sure that meant it was permanently funded... and the possibility of the check bouncing at a later date was null. let's hope this is correct information :-)

I have always deposited at my CU. First of all, the amount of each check is very small compared to my CU balance. So, if a problem occurs, there would certainly be no issue integrity-wise. Second, I will not draqw out those funds for maybe 6-8 weeks.

I had a check go through collections and it took about 4 to 5 wks. My account is with a large national bank. I received funds but fees were high. This was in Nov - Dec 2012 when a lot of checks were being returned from up north. My check was from up North.

Just curious:

Is a check from the EAST more likely to bounce than one from up North?

I have not noticed any pattern from these posts

I had been receiving steady cashouts via WU for the last two months, always kept them under $1000 as to avoid to many questions when receiving them, the last one i requested was taking much longer and after calling bovada they said they refunded the money into my account and that WU would no longer be a withdrawal option for me, i've heard of people getting blacklisted from WU for gambling payouts before do you think this is what happened here? Should I be wary of using WU for deposting/withdrawing from other sites now?

you should call WU and ask them to see if you are banned from using WU.

That don't sound good. I would ask for a more in depth explanation because you use WU for other things and you want to know if you still can do that.

Some things you want to avoid is going to he same location to pickup your funds all the time. You should find four or five different ones and rotate them accordingly. You also don't ever want to mention gambling or anything that can insinuate a clerk that you are doing such a thing. A lot of times the problem is one of their senders gets outed somehow and they look at their past history of who they sent payments to which could get someone blacklisted that way as well.

You got flagged for the steady cashouts you talked about in your first sentence.

This article covers more.

http://www.walshiplaw.com/?p=182

Unfortunately you will never be able to use WU to deposit or withdraw from any poker site ever again. According to the article you can pass an 'interview' to reinstate but good luck.

Ironically if you actually have WU enabled you should never go to different locations as that is flagged in their system. Therefore you should 'relevel' and go to the same location everytime to prevent a ban according to the article.

One way to take this is as a compliment. Bovada enables WU betting on the fact that you are likely a net depositor (i.e. loser) and you have shown that's not the case. Think about it... this thread is about money and all the winning players get checks and wires. If winning players could use WU you would just see non-stop vomitous REQ/REC WU posts in this thread but that is not the case. Seriously I've been lurking this thread for a while and have not seen any posters w/d a large amount of money from WU like 30 or 100k or something..

So the good news is that you need TWO good big national banks. You will be on checks and wires like the rest of us. Remember that checks will come every week. As long as you have a backlog the 10 business day rule is halved. Same goes for wires.

Also, been doing some research on international check clearance time frames and there has been a lot of legislation on this. Basically 90% of international checks must bounce SIX business days after deposit and 99% will bounce ELEVEN business days after deposit. SO your check has a 1% chance of bouncing after 11 business days has elapsed.

There's a limit to this stuff guys and banks have to follow laws too. They can not just willy nilly bounce a check from september for example...

I mean big time winners aren't going to be using WU, because max withdrawal is $2k and theres a huge fee associated with it. Checks are just more convenient as well.

Back in August-November 2008, bodog had a real big problem with cashouts. So basically they could only do WUs for a few months. I had a spreadsheet set up on my computer of which locations I had been to and would just cycle through them all in my city. I took a large amount off. Pretty lucky I didn't get banned I guess. I always tried to keep a low profile and had a decent story the few times a WU agent asked me what $ was for, so I guess that helped, but prob just ran good.

OK, here's a question for you guys. I have had a roll on Bodog/Bovada for quite a while now. Apparently, my last deposit was via a credit card. Maybe that happened in 2011, I'm not sure. I recently ran up the $50 to about $1500 with some big MTT wins.

I had tried to withdraw $800 via WU/MG but they cancelled my withdraw and changed it to a check, because they said I had deposited by CC. I was willing to pay the $60 fee, no problem. Oh well, still waiting on that check (and they've always paid me good checks before).

So, I still have significant funds in there and I'm going to run it up to $2500. That's my goal because if I reach that figure, I can do a wire for $50 to my bank.

Are they going to pull the same thing for my future bank wire that they did with my WU/MG cashout request? Do I need to WIRE money in in order to WIRE money out?

Or will I have to cashout all of my remaining balance via check? Then, my account will be "clean" and I can then deposit via WU/MG/WIRE in order to get these magical withdrawal methods enabled?

Wire should work fine.
