+1 Its not even about the relationship, its about theft or the appearance of theft. If you deposit a check into your own account and the check bounces its not really a big deal. You never took the money, it is easily retrieved. If you give a check cashing place a bad check and walk away with their cash you basically have stolen from them even if it wasnt your intent.
Take compilers advice and just deposit it at your bank, give it some time to clear if you dont have the funds to cover it. That is the better play.
