This all loosely sounds like the 12 Step program from AA. One of the steps is making amends with everyone you harmed because of your addiction.

Faith has saved many a man/womans life. Stop being so judgemental. Just because you don't believe in a higher power doesn't mean everyone else doesn't. Billions of people on this planet do.

That's exactly what it sounds like.

Seriously? So you'd rather be friends with a scammer than someone who believes in love or forgiveness? That says volumes about you.

In poker, as in everything else in life these days, it seems that if you scam people, rape, murder, cheat, lie, or do anything that is inexcusable and unscropolous, if you just find God then all is good and lots of your victims will forgive you even, for your sins... if you could just find God.

Amazing. If that really saves scumbags from going to HELL, then God is basically the enemy of all victims in society because scumbags can use God to do a ton of bad, and then get away with it all.

How about scumbags for once get NO FORGIVENESS from their victims regardless of finding God? Hell doesn't disappear just because someone claims to have become a believer, and OP is going to Hell end of story.

I think hes saying they are equally as ****ed up, and you wouldn't want to be friends with either of them. Scammers make awful friends, but so do psycho jesus freaks.

Karma exists as much as god does, lol. The ones who bend and break the rules, cheat and steal generally get off scot free. Life is kinda unfair like that.

I'm usually the most gullible person on these boards when it comes to giving the bad guys the benefit of the doubt but this thread just doesn't read true to me.

Unless this guy is seriously so deep into all this religious belief (and I mean lunatic deep) then none of this makes any sense at all.

The fact that he can dismiss everyone's concerns so lightly because he's found God is unconvincing. His replies are flippant and joyous like everyone should be so happy for him, it's just completely weird.

He talks about setting up a payment plan for a huge total despite being broke and working some menial job and ignores every post that questions how he's going to do it. He randomly cherry picks irrelevant posts to respond to where he can be light and cheery and he doesn't even to seem to be concerned about the comments that the cops should be brought in. Most posters in his position usually grovel a bit when they see things might potentially turn out differently than they anticipated.

The whole thing is bizarre. It seems to me that either he truly has turned into some religious nut job or else this is all part of some extended scam where he's stepping it up a level.

His whole demeanour just doesn't seem sincere enough to me to accept the former and rule out the latter.

The problem here is that you're making a hugely broad generalization of Christians. If you were to go to a Christian recovery meeting you wouldn't think "these are all Jesus freaks". Some of the best people I've met were Christians. I've also met some pretty cynical "two-faced" Christians as well but I can say the same about some Atheists.

Making blanket assumptions about whole groups of people that believe in a higher power lacks the critical thinking that many atheists claim to have. Calling the 1 billion+ people who are Christians a bunch of "psycho Jesus freaks" is not only irresponsible, it's also tremendously ignorant.

No, that's not what he said. What he said is that a Christian is worse than a scammer. I'd rather be friends with someone who believes in the teachings of Jesus than a scammer. But I guess that's just me.

Wow...what a ****ing joke. How can you stand so high and mighty after what you've done? This is truly mindboggling.

Honestly, from that guy's pic earlier in the thread it's clear he's a complete psychopath, so the Jesus-freak "everyone be happy with me, I've found god! And if you can't, leave the thread at once" attitude kind of makes sense.

And yes, it's easy to tell just from a picture. If you can't, you're probably one of those people who gets an obvious creep pedophile to babysit their kids and then wonder what happened...

Moving on to the OP; I really don't think he has any serious intention of paying back his victims. He's just trying to clear his conscience. I'm sure some mod probably ran his i.p. and maybe tried to report this but since it's not an on-going scam and since it involves poker, I doubt law enforcement is going to chase this.

Dude scammed a bunch of people. He feels bad about it. No one is getting paid. Feel free to judge. Personally, I think this whole thread is incredibly self-serving to the op.

It's a little more complicated than that. As someone has mentioned already, Justin creates those reactions by playing the religious fanatic in every one of his posts.

Allowing him to do that and not others to address it makes little sense.

Not sure how ProfessionalPoker's 'what state were you in when you posted' thing really confirms anything, its pretty clear that he is based out of Texas...

Some kind've additional proof that this is really you would go a long way imo. Props for doing the right thing if this is really you though!

nba_guru, I'm really sorry if you're going through some hard financial times and the money meant a lot to you. But it's very clear that I did the right thing and I would really appreciate it if you get over the ordeal and stop trying to drag my name through the mud when I'm not the one who stole money from you.
Super noble of you to consider returning stolen property to a victim.

It's the overwhelming consensus (by many reputable 2p2 members) itt that Lefort is not obligated to return the money, and some good points are mentioned as to why. You've done nothing to invalidate their arguments with your statement here.

It actually is quite noble to consider returning 5k when you aren't obligated to.
