Possible Disconnect Scammer Possible Disconnect Scammer

02-03-2013 , 07:44 AM
I've had three disconnect issues in the past five days. All have been when screen name "LivLiv1" has sat my husngs. After i DC, it's impossible for me to reconnect to my internet/backup internet. The internet comes back after about 5 mins, but because i play hyper HUSNGs the damage has been done. User MrGoomba had disconnected the other day while sitting a bunch of tables and LivLiv1 immediately sat and blinded him down in the hypers of those. The first two times this happened, I re-sat a couple lobbies after believing the internet was back to normal. I then was DC'd once again and sharkscope let me know that LivLiv1 had blinded me down yet again. Today, after DC'g I decided to sit a couple lower stakes lobbies to see if my internet would go out again shortly after the first time. It didn't - completely normal.

This got me wondering if this user is somehow watching the high stakes lobbies and causing disconnects and immediately sitting these hypers knowing there is no realistic chance a person can regain internet in time to save chips. I don't even know if this is possible, but can a user do this? Lock can you check this out?

Kind of odd that u mention that name, because this same person "LivLiv1" has sat at my HU cash tables a few times trying to talk to me and get me to play, trying to make nice talk to get me to play him/her but I eventually declined.....no idea If he/she was trying to do something to me on my cash tables or what but a little strange it is the same person......hopefully they can look into this and see maybe, I have no idea......let us know if you hear anything back Hoya.......gl

It's possible. If he has the means of doing so (and given the fact lots of money can be involved, it's not unthinkable at all) he could DDOS you or otherwise break your internet connection.
02-03-2013 , 04:52 PM
As was mentioned, a DDOS attack against your IP address could cause this to happen. The bigger question would be how he could get your address since the connection is established between your IP and Lock system IP addresses. To get your connection information, the person would have to either work onsite at Lock or have established some method of analyzing their network traffic (hacked one of their systems, etc.).

Either way, I hope you are mistaken since either answer is disturbing. Good luck getting to the bottom of this and please keep us updated.

Unfortunately , this is very very possible DDoS attacks are pretty easy. You can protect your self from these DDoS attacks/see who is packeting your ip address with some programs online..google it forgot some of the names. With the signs ive seen this is def. a case. He can get into HUGE trouble just for DDos'ing, what a low life.
02-03-2013 , 07:56 PM
I forgot , take matters into your own hands call your internet company now they can tell you if you were DDos'D attacked. Tell them the time it happened , i completely forgot about this!! Do it!! That guy can lose his internet for a while. You can also prove this to lock and they would probably give your funds back . Update me on this!!!!!

This is some crazy **** if true.

Can someone explain the significance of those numbers?

I dont play sng/tourneys.

Op or some one should x-post this in Internet Poker imo. Major issue if true imo.

@Jim

Basically he has made 10k in 4 days with avg buyin of $256 and avg profit of $88 through 118 games. Pretty unheard of in any hu sng format let alone hypers (supposedly).

I've played livliv1 in a couple 45s (with him/her sitting second) and didn't experience any connection problems. It is a bit weird though for said user to regularly play 45s and then jump up to the stakes that you and Goomba play only when disconnects happen. But this seems a bit tenuous given I've played multiple games with liv fine (albeit much lower).

Very small sample size tho. Maybe some one could show results of the higher stakes only. If his results are off the charts at those levels that might more cause for concern.

why are people talking about DDOS?
ddos can only be done if they know your IP address. How would this happen? It would have to be someone you are in contact with. Furthermore, a lot of IPs are now dynamic, meaning each time you shutdown your PC or modem/router, you lose your IP address and get a new, different one, next time you go online.

the significance is the guy has played an amount of SNGs equal to about 1k hands of cash, in 4 days.

One thing that is possible is he's opening lots of HS SNGs and looking for ppl who D/C then join that person's game.

If you really wanna go the ddos route, IMHO it would be a MUCH more reasonable assumption that this is a lock employee than that he's just a random guy who can magically guess your IP address out of thin air and run a DDOS against you

I've researched this a bit, and Skype seems to be a somewhat easy way to figure out an IP address. Considering I coach through Skype and I'm adding people who are "prospective students" and I was recently hacked on Skype for Lock Money, it wouldn't necessarily be guessing the IP address out of thin air. Since I've found this information, I've closed down Skype and changed IP. Since the hacking, I've been using Skype on my macbook pro, and the option settings that people list to limit these ddos attacks aren't possible on my version.

He was also playing random users at at high stakes hypers yesterday. It's very unusual to see games running at those stakes between two randoms. I thought chip dump for a second, but he's been beating the guy (user: dex03Dx). Possible the guy was just tilting and LivLiv1, who seemingly has high stakes lobbies open at all times, noticed him before anyone else.

Just an update from the other thread. Mods, please close one of these if you feel the need. I just want someone from Lock following this.

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/28...-post-1296609/

I've e-mailed security asking them to look into the relationship between livliv1 and herocallme22. No response yet.

Shane can you get someone to look into this please.

how did you not think that including the bolded parts in the OP was important?

you posted this thread acting/wording it like someone is targetting random people and you seem to have been one of them when to me it's pretty damn clear this guy got into contact with you and found out your IP address and targetted you specifically

This is not a "disconnect scammer" it's just your plain old boring hacker with a (creative) twist
02-07-2013 , 01:54 PM
I think the guy added him as a prospective Lock trader, not a student.

I could be wrong, but this guy and the hacking guy (whether they are two people or one) were adding tons of people looking for trades, not coaching.

could this perhaps been the reason for bjoerni's disconnects on stars in 1-5k husngs last year?

he got blinded down a reg...

Here is an "easy" solution how to fix this:

1. Download and run TOR proxy provider (very well known free proxy service):
https://www.torproject.org/dist/torb...25-5_en-US.exe
2. Sign out at Skype
3. Go to Skype Tools->Connection Options
3.1: Use Port 9150 for incoming connections
3.2: Uncheck “Use port 80 and 443…”
3.3: Select SOCKS5 from the drop-down menu
3.4: Enter Host 127.0.0.1 and Port 9150 (leave authentication unchecked)
3.5: Quit Skype (completely shutdown the program)
4. Restart your Internet Router manually or reboot it to obtain a new IP adress
5. Run the SkypeProxy.cmd as Administrator* (Right-click -> run as administrator)
6. Restart Skype that now connects over the Tor network
7. Configure your Windows firewall to block all outgoing transfers for Skype and add a rule to send them through TOR proxy client.
8. Use utrace or any other tracing tool to check if your Skype IP is safe.

there is also a patch provided on this site, but it can be done manually as described above. I posted it in the other thread that deals with this topic also

re TOR
-- understand that using TOR to log in and post on 2+2 is "immediate grounds for dismissal" for anyone.

2+2 admin have approved this policy as TOR is a commonly used scammer, spammer, hacker and hijacker tool.
