Players probably shouldn’t be inducted into the HOF based on very recent accomplishments anyway. There’s a reason baseball players aren’t on the HOF ballot until 5 years after they retire.

The reason is they don't want Hall of Famers being active players. This isn't the case with poker players as you can play poker until you die.
They have the same rule for managers but waive it after a certain age.


Jim Palmer actually tried to come back 7 years after he retired and 2 years after he was in the HOF.

Roberto Clemente (had already died in a plane crash a few months earlier) and Lou Gehrig (terminal with ALS) both had the 5 years waiting period waived.

Arieh getting closer but seems to be missing a signature win or two (or another POY) at least. Next year might be year one of the non players gets in.

I also didn't break all the ties down to months, days, etc. That said, Doyle has Bones beat but only by a few days. Berlund packed all five of his wins from May 1, 1977 to May 13, 1979. Doyle's stretch went from May 5, 1976 to May 10, 1978. Of course, back in those days, the entire WSOP took place over a few weeks.

Of course, COVID helped Ausmus take this record: the delayed start to the 2021 WSOP means there were only 628 days spanning his second (Sept. 30, 2021) and sixth (June 20, 2023) pieces of flair.

Pretty spectacular by Arieh, two bracelets in a 10K and a 25K. Of course, those are smaller fields. This is his first bracelet not in PLO or limit holdem.
